Thank God for the Rain...

WE needed it so much. It has rained for two days now and we are blessed to have it. The gardens were drying up and the crops were going away. I think that this rain saved much of our garden and we are very Thankful. Now we can can the veggies needed for the Winter.

Well, it's over. All of the food has been eaten, all of the games have been played, and all of the fireworks have been seen. Southport has finally returned to its normal, calm, mellow self again. Our Fourth this year, as with every year previous, began on the 2nd, when I'd say the majority of the family came down to celebrate our nation's independence with us, and ended at 9:15 on the 4th, after the fireworks. We spent our three days sitting on the porch, enjoying each other's company, catching up on each other's news, and just being happy with what we have. The 4th of July brings our distant family members close again, and it reminds us that we're happiest when we're together.

We have had a most awesome 4th with Family and Friends....

Starting out this morning at 8:30...taking food from home over to my mother in laws..

Parade started at 11:00

Cooking ham, boiling potatoes for Potato salad, baked beans, stewed squash and onions, fresh tomatoes from the garden, cucumber and vinegar, barbecue, cantaloupe, blueberry crunch, cake, tea, lemonade...for beginners..

Then...performing with the SeaNotes choral society at 3:00.

Back to the front porch..to watch the entertainment and to dance and sing along.

Fireworks began at 9:00..

It has been such a great day with family and friends.

State Flowers

This is a cool site and I think you will enjoy it very much. It gives us each state flower and then does something really special that the end.

Know that I am thinking about you, my fellow American, on this 4th of July 2009.

We have to unite as a nation for the good of the Natiion.
