Sorry, we have been on hiatus for a while, went on vacation, cruising, snorkeling, eating, drinking, reading, relaxing, dancing ... BUT DID YOU KNOW IS BACK


Oh, now what were we suppose to be talking about?? Ah, ha ... Sunset Beach in North Carolina is Famous ...

We have been chosen as one of the WORLD'S MOST UNUSUAL ......

Not yet, let me tell you the source first... The source is YAHOO! TRAVEL ... an article written by Jamie Moore... WORLD'S MOST UNUSUAL .... (hang in there)

Well since I live less than a mile from Sunset Beach in North Carolina, I can tell you I just might have to dispute some of the content of her article.. I find it hard to believe she chose BIRD ISLAND, NEAR SUNSET BEACH, NORTH CAROLINA

I'll save the dispute for another time.... Just know this one thing...You have to walk on the beach, Sunset Beach, to BIRD ISLAND... There is no dividing line on the beach...that inlet of water between Sunset Beach and BIRD ISLAND filled in many, many years ago with sand ....

BIRD ISLAND IS ONE OF THE WORLD'S MOST UNUSUAL BEACHES!! WAIT A MINUTE!!!

Now you are probably wondering what could be so unusual about a beach ....

The unusual part of BIRD ISLAND is the FAMOUS BLACK MAILBOX ...AKA ... THE KINDRED SPIRIT ...

As the story goes back in 1981 there was talk of developing the land known as BIRD ISLAND.... I reckon that story should be another blog because it's a long one...

Back to THE KINDRED SPIRIT, the famous black mailbox ... Well you see a local resident planted the mailbox in the sand, inserted a notebook and pencils inside, as a plea for people to write and help preserve the 1,300-acre barrier island. Next thing you know those developers went away (that's another story) and people started writing in the notebook about all their fond memories of BIRD ISLAND and coming to SUNSET BEACH. Depending on where you start walking from, the walk can take up to an hour.


More and more local people starting writing in the notebooks that were left by the local resident about memories, wishes, dreams, love stories and other words of encouragement. Visiting tourists starting writing in the notebooks as the word traveled about THE KINDRED SPIRIT...

To this day folks from all over who visit, walk the walk just to write a little something in the notebook as they sit on the bench, for whatever reason, and all who write are comforted as they pour their hearts out to the KINDRED SPIRIT....

It was a finding ..... To FLU or not?

ACHES AND PAINS AND SORENESS, OH MY!

Haven't had the FLU since 1968... I was a freshman in high school... Worst ever feeling of aches and pains all over..

The pain started on Tuesday, suddenly, in my head, sharp, spreading quickly, .burning, swelling... No please, I never get sick! I bragged about the fact that I never get sick on New Years Eve to my neighbor...

Procrastinated all day Wednesday, the pain in my head was excruciating spreading like wild fire from the back of my hair line to my front... Time to research the ailment... Oh, No! Do yourself a favor, never google an ailment! Every single website will scare you more and more! Every symptom links you to cancer!!

I FELT LIKE I WAS IN NURSING SCHOOL AGAIN!!

I immediatley started my self exam ... Yikes, my Lymph Nodes are inflamed!!

The BIG C is attacking me!! I had every symptom from my nursing book!!

Scary reality call... Do Not Read Too Much Into Your Symptoms!!

Thursday, went to the doctor... Curiosity killed the cat! Complete Exam, Flu Swab (up the nose) negative

Shot of decadron in the butt, instructions to rest and drink plenty of fluids (can I drink red wine?)

Viral infection?? Thank God It's Thursday!!
