If you've been reading my blog previously, you know that I've had reports from other members of my family that they have seen at least 2 different American eels in our creek (Dunn Creek). But yesterday I got to SEE an eel! Weird and crazy (and kinda creepy)!

So above you can see what I found when I went down to the creek. The eel is just wrapped around the root in the picture, just hanging out. I don't know if it was intentional or not, as the water was much higher than that about an hour earlier. Where the eel is, was underwater completely by about another foot or so at that time.
Below is the first video of the eel, and then below that is the second of the release. I finally saw an eel in our creek! Yay!

Halloween in the Town of Wake Forest

The Town of Wake Forest always recognizes Halloween on Oct. 31, regardless of the day of the week. The Wake Forest Police Department encourages all the little ghosts and goblins to go trick or treating between the hours of 5 pm and 8 pm.
Trunk-or-Treat

Come see us for Trunk-or-Treat on Halloween. Wake Forest Baptist Church will be offering treats from our trunks at the Wake Forest College Birthplace on North Main Street. We will be collecting cans of food for our local food bank at the Dubois Center, which is currently depleted. Please stop by for a treat and bring a canned good to donate to our community. Family Fest 2010

Living Word Family Church's North Campus will be having it's annual Family Fest, filling the safe and family-friendly lower parking lot full of giant inflatables, rides, and activities for the whole family. Come climb a rock wall, ride a mechanical bull, slide down the big inflatable slide, and eat cotton candy! Admission is free. Food will be available for purchase.
