A local defense contractor 3Phoenix in Wake Forest NC is growing rapidly. The US Department of Defense has just awarded 2 contracts worth $32M to them for development of a torpedo warning system for Navy submarines. This company is also partnered with Carl Zeiss Optronics to produce optical masts for submarines as well. a new 30,000 sqft manufacturing facility was opened this past year on Capcom Ave in Wake Forest. The company plans to expand it's current workforce from about 50 to 125.

As we mentioned previously on our blog, there is a special land use pending request that is being considered. Sheetz convenience store and gas station has submitted a request for a location in Heritage Wake Forest at the corner of Rogers Rd and South Franklin Street. The public hearing is scheduled Tuesday September 6th at 7:30pm at the Wake Forest Town Hall. All interested home owners are welcome to attend the meeting.
