One of the newest neighborhoods in Union County is called Cureton. Cureton is located in Waxhaw, NC. Waxhaw has always been the sleepy little town located approximately 15 miles south of Charlotte, NC. Recently, Waxhaw has been discovered by merchants and developers. Cureton is a neighborhood of townhomes, craftsman style homes and the traditional brick homes. One of the builders of townhomes and craftsman style homes is Standard Pacific. The townhomes of Cureton are adjacent to the Cureton Town Shopping Center which offers Papa John's Pizza, Moe's Southwest Grill and Chinese cuisine, along with Harris Teeter grocery, CVS Pharmacy, nail salon , etc. A bank has recently opened. Also nearby, a Lowe's Center and Walgreen's has opened. In the next couple of months, a McDonald's will be opening. Standard Pacific offers two and three bedroom townhomes and some offer detached garages. The active townhomes on the market range from $ 149,900 to $ 183,000 with an average square footage of 1100- 1300. Sales prices range is around $ 160,000 with over 1200 square feet.
Also within the same area, Standard Pacific and M/I homes have built some craftsman style homes which offer cedar shakes, stone and vinyl.
Another section of Cureton is being built by Cunnane Company. Most of these homes are constructed with fiber cement and are a little larger in square footage that the other section. M/ I is also building in this same section.
Cureton offers a fabulous clubhouse, pool, lakes and walking nature trails. The sidewalks through out the area combine to give you the rural feeling in a small sleepy town .The average price of the active homes in Cureton is $ 330,000 with an average square footage of 2900- 3500.

Cureton is the newest walkable neighborhood in Waxhaw, NC, once an historic railroad town in a rural setting of horse farms and rolling farmland. Located on 380 acres at the intersection of Providence and Cuthbertson Roads just north of downtown Waxhaw, Cureton is designed to be a mixed use development of retail shops, offices and homes. The neighborhood, consisting of both single family homes and townhomes, has something for everyone.
Walk to the grocery store or one of the restaurants in the retail center. Enjoy the 4000 sq.ft. amenity center at the entrance to the neighborhood. The clubhouse includes a library, kitchen and a fitness center. A junior olympic pool and a playground complete the outdoor amenities. Walking trails through the natural areas separating the residential villages provide more opportunities for walking and enjoying the outdoors.
Cureton Villages
Cureton has both resale homes and new construction. Pricing of new single family homes on small lots ranges from the $230,000s to the $270,000s. The more upscale villages have homes from $400,000 to over $600,000.
During 2008, thirty nine single family homes sold in Cureton ranging from $247,000 to $645,000. The average sales price was $370,208 and average square footage was 3387 sq.ft. Eight townhomes closed during 2008 with an average sales price of $167,674 and average size of 1280 sq.ft.
There are currently 13 homes under $400,000 for sale in Cureton and 19 homes available between $400,000 and $1,275,000. Townhomes on the market range from $159,900 to $177,595.
