The Club at Longview , Waxhaw NC

Yes the Big Banana, Chiquita, is hosting a Nationwide Golf tournament here in Waxhaw, N.C.

And so, another professional golf tournament is coming to the Charlotte area and the first to Waxhaw.

The PGA Nationwide Tour announced Wednesday that the Chiquita Classic will take place September 24-30.

The tournament will be at The Club at Longview in Waxhaw for the next three years.

The tournament will host a field of 156 players for prize money worth $550,000. The Club at Longview course was designed by Jack Nicklaus and is one of his signature courses. It opened in 2003. Jack himself had a live call-in to congratulate the course and Chiquita as well as the Nationwide tour for selecting this fine course.

There are several PGA players that live in the Charlotte area, including Webb Simpson, Cory Nagy, , Brendon de Jonge, and Mathew Goggin as well as many Champions Tour players including Freddie Couples.

The PGA tour stops in Charlotte for the Wells Fargo Championship held at Quail Hollow Country Club the first week of May. Adding a Nationwide tour stop, just adds to the golf tournaments excitement that Charlotte has to display.
