My Mom's Gallery of Fall Foliage Photos

Mona Gersky,GRI,ABR~MoonDancer Realty~ Western North Carolina: Real Estate Agent in Sylva, NC

In spite of rain and fog yesterday, my mother, brother and I decided to take a spin on the Blue Ridge Parkway in Jackson and Haywood counties yesterday. The fall colors are extraordinary now and I thought for sure today’s post would be full of my photos.

We looked at Joyce Gersky's (my mom’s) photos first though and today is dedicated to Mom's Gallery of Fall Foliage Photos. Can you believe these are some of her first ever attempts at “view” photography? These are just four of two dozen beautiful shots and were taken with a simple Nikon digital that she just purchased for herself two months ago.

She’s headed back to Florida in a couple of days and I hope she’ll continue to use the camera…she really has a gift for composing a good photo. Tomorrow, I’ll start posting the photos I took but today I’m so proud to feature my Mom’s Gallery of Fall Foliage Photos. Joyce Gersky should be extremely proud of herself!

Monuments to Hard Working People - Thankful Thursday

Barns in Fines Creek, Waynesville, NC

I'm thankful for all of the farms, barns and silos standing as monuments in Western North Carolina for all of the hardworking people who've come before us and those who continue to work their fields in spite of the overwhelming number of corporate farms who threaten to swallow them up.

Little Known Fines Creek in Waynesville

Sometimes I can't believe our good fortune to live and work in these mountains of Western North Carolina. Most people have never heard of little known Fines Creek in Waynesville and I suppose some of the neighbors there are just fine with that. I'd heard of it of course, but had never had the chance to check it out.

Funny how opportunity will sometimes present itself. For us, it came in the form of a referral in a very roundabout way. We have listers who live in Asheville but own a historic farmhouse property in Dillsboro that we represent. Our clients happened to engage someone in Asheville in a conversation about farmhouses. Turns out that this person has a cousin in Colorado looking for a farmhouse here in the mountains. Our sellers of course suggested their property and gave this person our contact information. We got in touch with the Colorado cousin and sent information about our listing. Unfortunately, it was just too small for their needs. Turns out though that the cousin had spotted a farmhouse in Fines Creek that she wanted to possibly consider and felt that she wanted buyer representation on it. Okay! We can help with that!

So today I drove out to Fines Creek and fell in love with the area. Farmland, rolling hills, mountains, valleys, farmhouses, barns, cattle and horses lined Highway 209 while I journeyed toward the property in question. It was so easy to visualize how this area must have looked a hundred years ago.

I'd always thought of Fines Creek as beng a great distance from Waynesville but it turns out that this particular property was only about 15 minutes from town. I checked out the property and took my time on the way back...after all I had the camera with me and had to stop, didn't I?

It's probably a good thing that I had an appointment to go to. Otherwise, I'd probably have stayed out there until sunset!

Autumn colors are just now beginning to reveal themselves in Fines Creek just outside of Waynesville. Somehow, I need to find the time to get back out there again before the season ends.

Smooth Showings Thanks to the Efforts of Agents in Neighboring MLS

Mona Gersky,GRI,ABR~MoonDancer Realty~ Western North Carolina: Real Estate Agent in Sylva, NC

Scheduling

What a day! I showed 11 houses near downtown Waynesville today. They were all within a 4 mile radius and it went very smoothly thanks to the cooperation of the neighboring Haywood County MLS agents.

keys Living in Balsam, I am right on the Jackson/Haywood County Line. We've owned a business in Waynesville and therefore are very familiar and comfortable with showing property in Waynesville. Because we aren't members of the Haywood County MLS, we wouldn't dream of listing properties there but have had success with our buyers there. Other agents in our own Northern Jackson MLS have complained that the Waynesville agents made it very difficult to show those Haywood County listings but I find that really hard to believe.

Opening the door to Waynesville Real EstateThe Waynesville agents were all very gracious and accomodating making sure I had access to the houses , I've given them my thanks when I called with feedback. I just wanted to put it in writing that the sellers of the Waynesville listings should all be very happy with the efforts their listing agents made to help a neighboring agent try to sell their house.

I would extend the same courtesy to any agent from other MLS who was making the effort to show and sell our listings.
