Before you decide to take a job watching your neighbor’s children, it would be best to get schooled in safety. Just because the parents know you are a good kid and trust you, won’t always guarantee that they will choose you as their sitter. Make sure you have taken an American Red Cross babysitting class to get a certificate that says “I know what to do”. You never know what may happen while watching children. On top of being creative and fun, there is a responsibility to caring for the kids and making sure they are safe in any situation. It can be a scary thing when one gets hurt and you aren’t sure you know how to fix it.

American Red Cross babysitting classes teach you accident prevention, emergency skills, and child care skills. By the end you will know how to change a diaper, perform the Heimlich Maneuver, and much more. There will be a class August 13th at the Bond Park Community Center from 10am to 4pm. This class is for ages 11+. Learn to be a safe babysitter.

For the first time, Free association theatre ensemble and Applause! team up to put together a tale give to us As You Like It by William Shakespeare. Directors Julya M. Tickets can be purchased in advanced at the Cary Arts Center box office or picked up the night of the show. The shows begin August 4th and run through the 7th. Performances on Sunday start at 3pm, all others begin at 8pm. Advanced tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for students/seniors, and $5 for children five and under. All tickets at the door will be $10.
