Minot ND continues to be a hot spot for home sales due to the expansion of our Air Force Base and the Oil activity in our region. We have been very fortunate to have had an ever increasing economy for as long as I can remember. Over the last two years we have had 100% occupancy in our rentals and in a town of approximately 35,000 people we have only 142 homes on the MLS (that's our HIGH for the last two years!

Not to long ago I wrote a post about Day Care in Minot ND. There is indeed a great shortage of licensed Day Care in Minot as I reported BUT I erroneously reported that the YWCA Early Learning Center had closed down. I spoke with Christi, manager of the center and they are here to serve you as they have been for many years. They are located at 435 21st Street NW in Minot ND and you may phone them at 701-857-4023. Creative Beginnings Daycare Center, Minot North Dakota has been a God send for our family. Daycare Availability In Minot North Dakota is a challange to say the least. For those of you who read this blog on a regular basis you are aware that Minot North Dakota has been experiencing a housing boom over the last two years due to our Air Force Base expansion and an Oil Boom with the biggest oil find in North American history.

Creative Beginnings Daycare lovingly cares for children from 6 weeks of age to 10 years old. There philosophy is: Creative Beginnings Daycare will seek to provide a Happy, Positive, early Learning environment for your child's social, mental, and physical growth.

Creative Beginnings Daycare is a licensed facility with rules and regulations set forth by Ward County Social Service Board and the ND Department of Human Services. They are licensed for up to 89 children.

My personal experience with Creative Beginnings Daycare is that my two children have attended there for over 6 years, they are currently 7 (almost 8) and 9 years old. In the interest of full disclosure I need to say that my bride of 12 years has worked at Creative beginnings Daycare for many years including a few before I knew her. The kids each look forward to going to Creative Beginnings because of the friends they have made there and all the activities that Creative Beginnings has for them. They both enjoy the meals prepared for them with the exception on Tina on the day they serve tuna sandwiches. I have been very impressed with how loving and dedicated the staff is about taking care of your child.

I want to mention again that Daycare service in Minot is scarce. One of Minot's largest employers just closed it's daycare service and the YWCA also closed their service. ALL licensed daycare providers in Minot, including Creative Beginnings Daycare, have a wiating list. I am sure there are many unlicensed daycare providers available but I ask you, do you really want to trust an unlicensed person to take care of your child? Not me, my kids are to valuable. Broadway Tesoro is my Minot ND business of the day. We all need gas don't we so why not recommend a place that has a smiling face and a hot cup of Java every time you stop to fill up. You may have seen pictures of "The RealMan Mobile" on my posts or on my website and you might know that my other vehicle is a big Dodge Grand Caravan with the biggest motor and towing package available so you can bet that I'm at the gas station no less then once a week. When I can time it right I make sure I stop at the Broadway Tesoro in Minot on a Saturday.

Why Saturday? When you stop at the Broadway Tesoro in Minot on a Saturday you not only get a nice smile and a hot cup of Java but you also get a car wash for only ONE dollar! Let me clarify a couple of things here. That free cup of Java, it's not made with Foldgers by a caffeine starved grease monkey who mixed 50% water with 50% coffee grounds, Broadway Tesoro in Minot is a Moxie Java dealer and you get a free cup of some of the best coffee on the planet.

OK, if I have not given you a good reason to stop at Broadway Tesoro yet how about they have a nice clean convenience store AND they are also a TCBY dealer!!! Oh man, what more could you want? Good quality fuel (Tesoro has the only refinery in ND so you are supporting ND folks), great coffee, a car wash, and The Countries Best Yogurt!

The best part of doing business with the folks at Broadway Tesoro, they are good people. They treat their employees well, they give back in a big way to the community, and they will be good to you when you stop in. My Neighbor, Oak Park Theater, is my choice for Minot's business of the day. Oak Park Theater is unique in today's movie theater market as it is one of the few "BIG" single screen theaters to survive the onslaught of multi-screen theaters.

Oak Park Theater has found a niche by showing movies that have already played at the multi-screen theaters but have yet to be released on DVD. They offer matinees for just $3.00 and special rates to groups. Being their neighbor I can tell you it's a joy to watch buses come to Oak Park Theater from local schools, churches, day-care groups and more who can not afford to take the kids to the multi-screen theaters.

The manager of Oak Park Theater has been creative with other ways to keep people coming to the theater and to keep the doors open. Tonight at 7PM the Oak Park Theater will host a concert by Lil' Ed and the Blues Imperials. There will be two more concerts soon. On August 8th there will be a multi-band concert dubbed "Rock The Leaves" and on August 23rd will be Walter Trout.

As their neighbor I can tell you it's great to bring my kids to work with me in the afternoon and they can just head next door and catch the movie at 2:00. I never worry about what is showing as the matinee is always a G or PG rated movie. Tomorrow they will be coming to work with me and then go see A Night At The Museum.
