School Supply List for Sunnyside Elementry in Minot ND

Hopefully you did NOT miss orientation day yesterday at Sunnyside School but if you did and if you missed the supply lists posted at Kmart and Walmart here it is. Please pardon the highlighted items as those were what we needed personally for our own Sunnyside student, Timmothy.
The flood that destroyed the river vally of Minot was particularly hard on several elementary schools. School has been post-poned a week and is scheduled to start on Tuesday September 6th. Many think that another postponement is inevitable. Some schools were totally destroyed and are meeting in temporary classrooms. Word has it that some have no desks, chairs, teaching materials and so on. It's going to be interesting.
I can only encourage you to keep checking the Minot Public Schools website for more information.

My Sons 1st Extracurricular Activity
This week my son, Timmothy, had his first "concert" and the season finally of DRUMKidz.
Timmothy has really enjoyed this program and no doubt will be eager to pick it up again next year.
You will notice from the shirts the kids are wearing that DRUM is an acronym. It stands for Discipline, Respect, Unity, & Music. The teacher threw in a bunch of other virtues but they really don't make sense for the acronym.
I very vaguely remember music class in elementary school and in fact what I do remember was a teacher came in about once every two weeks and we sang for about a half hour. I don't even remember putting on a "show".
I can't imagine being an elementary school music teacher. I believe Sunnyside schools music teacher is very talented and very patient but I would go insane being around her more then the length of one of these programs. Fact I'm not sure I always leave in a stable state of mind.
This women explains the joy right out of joy itself. It's like her audience has never heard of music and she has to explain in detail the mechanics of everything they do before they do it. Geeez! I come to hear my kid attempt to make music, not have someone drone on and on about what a scale is and how it relates to the one verse song the kids are going to play after the 10 minutes of droning. Oh Well, if a person can train themselves to float off to that special place between the actual pieces of music you can live threw the rest I guess.
Our first musical treat was... Oh Boy... hold on... C Scale... and My oh My we got to hear it two ways! WOW!
It did get better (after more droneing) with BALAFON, JACK BE NIMBLE, DING DONG DIGGA DIGGA DONG, DRUM CODE (The DRUMKids creed), MY RIGHT - MY LEFT, MEXICAN HAT DANCE, & PLAY THE BLUES.
The music was very good. I was amazed at how well the 3rd, 4th, and 5th garde kids did in executing the music. Most of the time I was thinking about executing the teacher (or myself) to avoid the droning.

WHO STOLE THE COOKIES?

WHO STOLE THE COOKIES?
When I was told my daughter Tina was Alice from Alice in Wonderland in the 5th Grade school play I was really proud that my little girl was Staring in the play. Whoops, this play featured the star of about every children's book in the library (but I'm still proud). The play was adapted from something the teacher found on the Internet. It was a Who Done It. Someone stole the cookies collected for charity at the library. The culprit(s) could have been: Sherlock Holmes or any of his 3 investigators, Alice in Wonderland (played by the Fabulous Tina Natalie Timm), Cinderella, Snow White, Peter Pan, Goldilocks, Aladdin (Oh what the heck I bragged about my daughter so why go one with the list of 21 more characters.
I won't tell you who done it just in case the play comes to your neighborhood but I will tell you everyone had fun. The kids were not under the pressure of learning their lines as they could read them. They did rehearse so it went fairly smoothly but as I said everyone had a good time.
