It is a favorite of the locals for breakfast and lunch, but I had never taken the time to give it a try. UNTIL last week! I'm talking about the Pinehurst Track Restaurant. It is a very small obscure white building located beside the Harness Track on Hwy 5 in Pinehurst.
I went for a late lunch and if you do the same, you better get there before 2:00 - because that is when they close for the day.
I ordered the Burger with cheese, of course, which comes with a side of chips. I also ordered a side of onion rings to share with my lunch companion. The service was quick and the Burger was HUGE! It was a messy, half pound+/-, juicy hunk of goodness on a soft roll!! I can't believe it, but....I ate the whole thing and most of the onion rings.
My next visit to this 'lil local hotspot will be for breakfast. Oh by the way, they serve breakfast all day. I hear the pancake is a good choice!!!!
Go HUNGRY and enjoy! You also have permission to call me if you can't find it ;-)

I've lived in Pinehurst for 9 years and I've never taken the time to dine at one of our historic locales - Mid Pines Inn and Golf Club. That all changed this past weekend.
"Thank You" Mid-Pines for offering a sensational Prime Rib Dinner this past Saturday for only $19.95!!! Our table was located by the Fireplace and our server, Rochele, was very attentive. The wine was flowing, the food was hot and the conversation was non-stop.
I'm a 'Medium Rare' steak girl....with emphasis on the RARE! Most of the time my steak and/or prime rib comes to my table overcooked. I didn't have this problem at Mid-Pines. Did I mention, it was ALL YOU COULD EAT Prime Rib? Anyway, I asked the guy at the carving station to give me the rarest cut that he had available AND - guess what---- He DID!!! It was beautiful and filled up my entire plate. I didn't have any room for veggies (who needs them when you have Prime Rib)....Plus, I had to save room for dessert.
There were 4 of us at my table and we each ordered a different dessert which consisted of : Boston Creme Pie, Pecan Pie, Key Lime Pie and Carrot Cake. You may wonder, did I taste all 4? You bet and the Pecan Pie was my favorite!
Thanks again Mid-Pines.....I'll be back!
