Friday morning, I was joking to my daughter's teacher that it is summer (she wears pretty summerish).
Today, we had snow.

Here are a few snow flakes that I caught this morning. It was pretty cold and I could not have been outside for over 5 minutes to take a better picture for the snow flakes.

By the way, it looks we had snow nation-wide, from Kansas to Tennessee to New England. What a great start of March.
A few my friends recently got refused on their loan. While another friend who is lending to private funding is doing pretty.
I recently find it is not only difficult for many people to get a loan from banks, it is also difficult to get a mortgage, the special loan. Today's CNN money publishes an article illustrating why banks NOT lending although they claim they ARE.
Why you cannot get a loan:CNN money

One of the big reasons is that most money-holders actually lost faith in banks and have withdrawn from investing in any banks.
That means, unless we do things to restore credibility back into the financial industry, ie, through hard revolution rather than simply pouring money into the banks, banks will not be able to have enough money to lend out.
Today we went to my daughter's favorite park. We of course went to my daughter's favorite corner-the playground. Although we can see snow, we can surely smell the spring. The playground already got more than twenty kids there and we hear laughter and screaming all the time.
Here in RI, the winter has seemed rather long and cold, but finally, spring did come.

I try to stay positive but still there are some daunting news that I could not pass. In yesterday's Providence Journal, it was reported that the city of Pawtucket will run out of cash by Mid Apr.
Teachers told schools to run out cash in Pawtucket
No paychecks after Mid April? That is so scary.
Metro downtown Providence (including Providence, Central falls, Pawtucket, etc) has seen a dire real estate down turn. Now with kids facing a danger of getting out school, I think it will only add salt to a already salty market.
How about your community?
It seems that the whole country has lost confidence in the professional executive team, especially in the banking industry, it is still very important to have a good CEO.
Friday, I was attending a celebration in Bryant University located at Smithfield, RI. Bryant University got a serious problem in the 90s when enrollment drops below 2000 and a few dorms were totally empty. In 1996, the Ronald Machtly took over as president (CEO) after serving as a Congressman. After only a few years of work and creative marketing, the University has turned into a fine business university with average CPA at 3.42. Tuition has increased to nearly 30K and enrollment nearly doubled.
Below is a picture taken Friday (Feb 6, 2009).

If only this country could be run by capable and professional executives like Ronald!
