What a GREAT weekend we had! Jordan, my 7 year old daughter, was up on two wheels (bicycle) quite a while back, but this weekend was her first time riding mountain bike trails. She is hooked now! Chloe (4) is not far behind her as my wife, Michelle steadied her on the same trails on her small bike with training wheels. MAGNIFICENT!!
We spent Sunday afternoon and most of Monday either hiking, biking, swimming or skipping rocks in the woods at Bent Creek/Lake Powhatan, just 10 minutes south of downtown Asheville.
This is a GREAT family getaway with a campground. If you enjoy mountain biking, being contiguous with the Blue Ridge Parkway, it would take you months to find all the cool trails in and around this area. The greatest thing is that there are trails that accomodate any skill level. From Jordan's 7 year old level to my FLY DOWN THE SIDE OF A MOUNTAIN craziness.
Hey, I had a really big win in real estate on Friday! I don't work with many buyers (unless they want to buy my listings), but I have some friends that had many obsticles to overcome financially. Without going into details, it took months of poising and looking for just the right property that would work for them. Well, on Friday, August 29, 2008, Garry and Vickie closed on their first home ever. A foreclosure that turned out to be 2 lots instead of 1...no one knew about that until we dug deeper, and now their mortgage is HALF of what they were throwing away in rent every month. ALRIGHT GARRY AND VICKIE!!
Here is a note or two from them:
Oh - and thanks to you too Scott - :>)
I just got to work - Garry carried me over the threshold - and the power company hit the switch while we were there - hurray
Scott - Garry and I just wanted to say thanks again for all you have done for us in the past, oh how many, months!! Shopping for a home is exhilarating, fun, and exhausting but the process of financing proved to be even more intense - but it could never have been done had we not had the team of "yourself" and all the others involved in this process. It was truly amazing to see the time spent in this effort and the early and late hours you spent dotting all the i's and crossing all the t's because the sellers and underwriters wanted to clean the contract up at the last minute. How many last minutes did we actually have? I lost count!! :>)
I hope all home and property sales are not this intense for you - maybe it was because we purchased a foreclosure - don't really know - but we certainly appreciate you and all you've done for us.
Topping it all off was the lovely and very generous spa gift (that we both need so badly right now because we have sore muscles where we did not even know we had) that you gave us after we closed. How could you have know so precisely exactly what we would need?
We appreciate your thoughtfulness, your encouraging words, your very positive attitude, and "I" appreciate you letting me vent when I needed to.
Garry, believe it or not, is considering buying a townhouse near town - to rent. Geez - give me a rest first please!! :>) He's CRAZY! You are crazy honey.
Thanks again Scott - we will try and get settled quickly so you and your family can come for a pit fire and cookout................
Take care,
Vickie and Garry.................soon to be "Welcome to The Olivers" (our next undertaking)............. :>)

Let me tell you folks... More times than not, FINDING that buyer for your property or that property for your buyer is the easy part. Getting it to the closing table many times requires a team of professionals and this would NOT have happened any other way. If you are a potential buyer or seller, find a real professional, a highly recommended Realtor to help you. We know what we're doing and we have a TEAM of players that can get things done.
Oh, by the way, also on Friday, I got a very nice listing! A portfolio of 64 rental units. Alright.....
Congratulations Garry and Vickie!!!!
