Do I live in a cool place or not? At the end of my street is the Cape Cod Canal...8 houses away. It is great fun to watch the pleasure boats, tugboats, cruise ships, sailing vessels and more go through the canal. Well last week the Canal was closed for 2 1/2 hrs so a 35 foot North Atlantic right whale could pass through. Is that awesome? It is estimated that there are only about 350 right whales left in the world! And we had one travel down the Canal. I din't see it but I wish I had. Smaller whales, like a minke whale, swim through the canal more frequently and do not require the boats to stop traveling. But because this whale was so big, and there are so few of them left in the world, the traffic was stopped for her (or him). I just love this story.
I grew up in Gray Gables. It is a village in the town of Bourne. Bourne is the first town you come to when you are on Cape Cod. I love where I live in Gray Gables. Our neighborhood runs along the Cape Cod Canal so you are never far from the water. This is a picture I took of our public beach. During the summer, the Town has a lifeguard here and offers swimming lessons to the local kids. There is actually a section in the summer that gets roped off and a raft is put in the water. There are moorings for boats. the moorings are obtained through the town. There are about 325 homes in the neighborhood.
I had a great time at the convention in Orlando. I can't believe how much information you can get for the price of $300 to attend. It's unbelievable. I couldn't attend everything that I wanted to. The first 2 days I took the new NAR Green class. Taught by Terry Watson, who always keeps class interesting. Then the convention opened and I spent the next 4 days going to seminars and tradeshow. Every night I would weed through the material I had gathered. I brought so much good information home. I am always proud to be a Realtor when I am in the company of all the teachers, trainers, fellow realtors, etc. Actually, I am always proud to be a Realtor. I also met some great people. Even simple things like seeing a great business card gives me ideas. I could never incorporate everything that I saw or learned about but I do use an awful lot of the information I gathered to help make me a better realtor and person. I want my small company to have the best reputation in my area of Cape Cod for quality service, honesty, and successful real estate transactions.
I am new to blogging and I am looking forward to it! I attended the NAR convention in Orlando and went to a few conferences where other realtors talked about their blogging experience. They seemed to enjoy it and were generating business from their blogs. They also mentioned that they learned a lot from reading other blogs and liked to pass along information they had about their own area and real estate. So, here I go!
I welcome any advice! Thanks.
