Lots of people have been talking today about what is going to happen now with the airline industry now that Southwest bought Airtran. even had some opinions about the Wall Street Journal ad that came out today that quoted it to be a nightmare. We here don't see it making much difference in employment or in fare change. Brad Difiore from Sabre Airlines said on his facebook page: WSJ completely misses the boat with this one. I expected nothing less. In truth, this deal creates a competitor to Delta that has higher costs than the previous one and an inferior onboard product. Fare will go UP as a result if this deal, and that is a good thing for Delta. And the small business guy that has been ...using AirTran isn't going to care much for the Southwest product offering.

Its a great deal for WN. Its a great deal for FL. Its a mixed bag for Delta, but certainly no "nightmare'.
