Musical Instrument Museum, Desert Ridge, Phoenix Arizona
Desert Ridge is home to the Musical Instrument Museum, a true one of a kind museum.
The museum showcases the artistry, diversity, and movement of musical instruments from around the world. In fact over 200 countries are represented. August numbers for foreclosures in Maricopa County continued to show a significant decrease vs. 2010. Total trustees sales for August 2011 numbered 3825. 1946 of those were sold back to the banks and 1879 were sold to 3rd parties. There were a total of 6300 properties scheduled for trustee’s sale which leaves 2475 cancelled or postponed sales. The total sales were still approximately 25% below last August’s 5134 trustee’s sales. Although August sales were up slightly over July, it was still the second slowest month of 2011. The high month was February with 5071 sales.
Pending notices were up for the second straight month following steady declines throughout the year. Due to this, we are likely to see an increase in September’s numbers over August, but still substantially less than September 2010.
The most active foreclosure zip codes were spread fairly evenly over the entire metro area. 85301, which includes downtown Glendale had an astounding 159 sales, more than double the next highest number. This shouldn’t be an indicator on the area and most likely will be more in line when with other areas comparing past and future months.
Expectations are that we will continue to see increasing numbers of notices and sales, but given the current inventory level, additional foreclosures most likely won’t negative affect pricing.

MIM Summer concert schedule
HI,
A couple of days ago I mentioned the upcoming Jazz Festival at the JW Marriott Resort. While that should be a fantastic event, I would be remiss in not mentioning that there is a continually wonderful schedule of varied musical events at the Musical Instrument Museum (MIM), also located in Desert Ridge. The great thing is that some of these events are free while others do require paid tickets. That means not only is there practially something for everyone regarding types of music, but also budget.
This coming week features MIM Musical Interludes from the ASU School of Music with John Ericson, horns and brass on 9/28. Admission if free. Saturday, 10/1 is an evening of Irish fiddle and guitar music with Martin Hayes and Dennis Cahill.
Events through October include Autoharp, performers from China, a salute to Stan Kenton and so much more. Check out the full schedule of performances at the MIM's website, http://themim.org/performances/2011-2012-concert-season.
