Free Seminar in Nashville: affordable, green building construction

02-17-09
Liz Jenkins

Got this email recently from a friend of mine, Lynn Taylor. She's a local architect that specializes in urban infill with a vintage feel. If you are in the Nashville area, this may be a great seminar to go to. If you aren't, I bet Lynn would love to hear from you and maybe she can send you the handouts. It's always good to know people who do "stuff", and Lynn does her stuff really well.

Thursday, February 19, 2009 6:30-7:45pm

Lynn Taylor presents "Basic, affordable, green building construction methods you can choose right now"

Building an addition or new home? Lynn will discuss basic, affordable, energy-efficient, green building construction methods and materials you can choose. We will provide construction photographs showing what to look for when building an addition or a new home. These BEST construction methods and materials set you on the path for your home to last longer and be more energy efficient. PowerPoint presentation includes handouts for participants.

Staging seminar a success!

02-02-09
Liz Jenkins

My thanks to Church Street Flooring & Design, "B" Lucas Thrower and Karen Jones for helping me make a terrific staging seminar last Thursday night! We had a great turnout despite major traffic jams. Our goal was to educate realtors and home owners about the benefits of staging, and give some specific tips and techniques on staging. We also wanted to offer some fun and networking.

I'd say we achieved our goals. The feedback was great and I think everyone learned a lot. Patrick's sister-in-law made some awesome cakes (the coconut one was amazing) for us which was a very welcome surprise. staging seminar photo

From left: me, Karen, "B" at the seminar. We each had turns talking about what we know and do best: home staging!

Our next seminar is in March - this one is about the "nuts and bolts" of staging - you know, the lights, the doorknobs, the floors, the paint - all the stuff that you don't think about or notice until you go to sell - and your buyer notices. I'll keep you posted - if you are in Franklin - come and learn!

looking for a great, personable stager in Milwaukee

02-02-09
Liz Jenkins

I got a referral to a really nice agent/broker through a personal friend yesterday. Too bad he's several states away! My friend lives in Milwaukee and hooked us up through Linked In. I'd love to work with the guy and will be happy to do virtual consults. But what he really needs is a stager for his company as his "go-to" person.

I'd like to find him someone like me as we hit it off really well. So this means:

  • direct
  • honest
  • good sense of humor
  • good sense of style
  • works well with clients by educating them and getting them on board with the program
  • experienced and competent
  • knows houses not just from a staging perspective but also from a structural and maintenance perspective

The good thing about this guy is that he understands the value of staging, and that cheapest is not always best - if you want the best. He's also honest and direct, plus a nice guy.

So, I'd like the hear from some Milwaukee area stagers - I'm going to, as a favor to my friend, "vet" some Active Rainers and see if I can make a good match up for this agent and his company.

Send me an email with a link to your website and we'll see what happens!

Lost Dachshund in Nashville/Brentwood TN area

01-31-09
Liz Jenkins

Hi all - normally I post about real estate stuff but this is a case where realtors can be a big help as the know their areas and know lots of people.

I was at the Williamson County Animal Control a few days ago and met the "grand -dad" of Sadie, a lost 4 month old dachshund. I asked him for a flyer and I've already sent it around to all of my own contacts but figured Active Rain might be a good way to get the word out as well.

I can't figure out how to attach the pdf flyer but I'll just include the info - and if you email me directly - I'll send you the flyer.

Sadie is a 4 month old dachshund who ran away during an attempted robbery while she was being walked at the Brandywine apartments. This is near Edmonson Pike near the Nashville/Brentwood border. She's adorable and probably frightened to death. She was wearing a collar with her phone number, and a pink jacket, and here's the contact info:

Tiffany at 615-968-7728 and Josh at 615-668-4804

The "grand-dad" is Doug Montgomery at dougmontgo@comcast.net

They have checked with the Animal Controls and it has been in the news as well. These people really want to find their dog! If you have heard of anyone finding a dachshund - please let them know - and forward this along please.

Thanks much!

staging seminar coming up on January 29th in Franklin, TN

Brrr . . . it's still cold here in Franklin, Tennessee but we're revving up for our upcoming staging seminar. I've made up some great handouts, and my group of favorite stagers is meeting shortly to do some final planning. We've got a cute location at Church Street Flooring & Design at 601 Church Street in Franklin. Any one in our area is welcome to attend!

We'll be talking about . . . working with a home stager, tips on staging your home, and maintaining a staged home. We'll also be having some food & drink, some networking and a chance to win a door prize. We've got quite a few people getting the word out and it should be a lot of fun. I love to talk about what I do (I'm not one of those people whose afraid of giving out "too much" information).

The seminar is on Thursday, January 29th from 6-7:30PM. RSVP is recommended as the shop isn't very big so it may be a bit crowded which all the better as far as I'm concerned!

More info is on my website: www.afreshspace.com/events

I'd love to see some Active Rainers there!
