March 10th brings Chillounge Night back to Sarasota for the 5th year! Palm Avenue becomes one big outdoor living room with comfortable sofas and lounging chairs directly under the stars. March brings the Baltimore Orioles to their spring training headquarters here in Sarasota. This is the third consecutive Spring Training for the Orioles in Sarasota, and the second in the renovated Ed Smith Stadium. "Birdland South" as it is affectionately called is a tribute to the love of baseball and an enjoyable place to view the game.
The first game of their 2012 spring training season on Monday, March 5, at will put them up against the Pittsburgh Pirates and in addition to the game there are a multitude of events happening that night.
The honor of the first pitch will go to Orioles Hall of Famer and current Special Assistant to the Executive Vice President of Baseball Operations Brady Anderson.
This is also Goodwill Night and fans are encouraged to bring donations for Goodwill Manasota and for the third straight year tenor Joshua Kohl will perform the National Anthem. Kohl is currently performing as Edgardo in Lucia Di Lammermoor at the Sarasota Opera.

The number of active listings in our Sarasota Market continues its downward trend as brisk sales of existing inventory leave fewer choices for buyers who have grown accustomed to having large selections of properties to look at when they come down for season. The prices are just too reasonable to pass on and some of my buyers who have been in “looking mode” for several years now realize that although they may be able to save a little more money than last year, they no longer are able to find exactly what they are looking for in this smaller pool of homes and condos. The graph below shows the decrease in active listings from August of last year to January of this year and it is quite telling.
I believe that the next three months will be healthy for sales and that we will reach our lowest inventory level in years.

After 16 years of flying the friendly skies of TWA across the country and overseas, I landed in Sarasota, Florida. Twenty-seven years later, I cannot imagine living anywhere else. Sunny weather, white sandy beaches and the inviting waters of both the bay and the Gulf of Mexico are the most obvious reasons to love this place. When you add in all the other attributes, how could you ever leave? Every morning I am greeted at my front door by a troop of woodstorks waiting for chicken dogs. A blue heron is the ringleader and they are best friends with my doberman, Elvis.
I am outgoing, enthusiastic about real estate and work with a great partner, Dan Jasmer. We believe that having fun while you work is what keeps you motivated and our clients enjoy our relaxed attitude while showing property. I am an avid reader, admit that forensic novels are my downfall but make sure to throw in a few biographies and current event books into the mix. "Atlas Shrugged" is my all time favorite novel and "The Usual Suspects" is high on my movie list.
My husband and I are fortunate to live on a canal and we can be in the Sarasota Bay in about eight minutes. We enjoy slow cruises to the north end of Longboat Key where we anchor out and enjoy the sandbar and the sunsets. We attend as many of the exciting events, shows, plays and concerts as we can find time for and love the variety of entertainment that Sarasota has to offer.
My partner Dan and I teamed up because we share the same style of customer service. We do hours of homework so that we are able to show buyers only the properties that meet their demands and we are listing agents only for those sellers who can understand the true market value of their homes.
We have both achieved the GRI status which sets us apart from agents who have not taken this strenuous 3 part course that goes much deeper into the practice of real estate sales than the exam ever could. We are always taking continuing education courses and are currently studying to take our Broker's Licensing Exam.
Every morning starts with a cup of coffee and the computer open to the pages of the MLS that show us every property that has come on the market, gone pending or sold from the day before. We then call any clients who may be affected by the happenings to either show them a new listing, adjust the price on the home they are trying to sell or let them know that a home we had suggested was a good buy has just been sold.
We feel that much of our success has been based on the fact that although we have set physical boundaries for the properties we sell, we do not focus on just one price market. We laughingly say that we sell everything from dog houses to penthouses and everything inbetween. This flexibility and the knowledge of all segments of our market area have made us the experts in many neighborhoods. Our clients refer us to everyone they know because of the knowledge that we can show in all price ranges. And we are just as enthusiastic showing young, first-time buyers a condo as we are working with the more affluent clients looking on Longboat Key.
In our partnership, Dan and I have found the perfect balance. We are both tireless workers, there is never a concern that one of us is not pulling enough weight and because we each have individual strengths, we are able to provide consistent results and customer service.
