High tech connectivity in rural North Central Washington

North Central Washington, at least in areas served by high speed fiber available from the Public Utilities Districts in Chelan, Douglan and Grant counties, have some of the best broadband connectivity available in the state, often with fiber right to the home.

For those who can work remotely, this is an amenity we might fail to mention but could be key to the area even being a feasible location for many to live.

Gentrification of North Central Washington?

I wrote a post in at www.chelanrealestateblog.com about the gentrification that appears to be happening in parts of North Central Washington, including the Lake Chelan area. The projections show declines in average occupants per household to levels currently seen in Seattle, one of the most extreme examples in the USA.

Growth Management Act Tug-of-War in Washington

A tug-of-war between enviromental groups and property rights advocates over the King County Critical Areas Ordinance has been playing out in the courts since 2005. The latest round was the county losing on appeal their rural set aside requirments which could be up to 65% of a landowner's property.

Manson Group Proposes new Urban Growth Area

The Sub Area Planning Committee agreed in their meeting last night to propose a new Urban Growth Boundary for the Manson, Washington area. Their proposal intends to follow the sewer service area and is a 67% increase from the existing Urban Growth Boundary.

Wenatchee Area Residential Sales Numbers YTD through July

Here is a link to the residential sales numbers for the Wenatchee area through July. July 2008 sales showed a decrease of 26% from July of 2007. While YTD Average Sale numbers are still 2% above 2007, the median sale price has declines 3% to 4% depending on if you look at Wenatchee or the entire market area.
