The 12th Annual Troop Turkey-a-thon in Ventura County CA has been launched and Troop Real Estate Agents county-wide are making a push for donations to help feed qualified people Thanksgiving Dinner.
Twelve years ago, we had the honor of starting a program that became known as the Troop Turkey-A-Thon, which is a program where we donate groceries to feed qualified families through the food banks in their local areas. Without support from countless individuals in the community it never would have happened. Last year alone we provided Thanksgiving meals for 2,518 families or approximately 20,144 people, with leftovers to boot, all in Ventura County. Included in those numbers are 1,476 families or 11,808 people in Simi Valley and Moorpark. Since the beginning, we have easily fed over 110,000 people a Holiday meal in the County. This year our goal is to feed 25,000 people, or 3,125 families, including 300 recently adopted military families. With your help, I know that we can do it.
For just $20.00, you can provide each family a meal consisting of a 12-14 pound turkey, a 5 pound bag of potatoes, a box of stuffing, 2 cans of green beans, a can of cream of mushroom soup, a can of Durkee Onions which completes the green bean casserole, and fresh rolls. Pies may be provided if the budget allows. Each meal feeds at least 8 people. We will deliver the meals to the families on Monday morning, November 21st starting at 9:00 AM at the Troop Corporate Center in Simi Valley, at our Troop Real Estate Office in Ventura, at Manna Food Bank in the Conejo Valley and at the Boys and Girls Club in Santa Paula. You can feed as many families as you would like.
Troop Real Estate is asking for your support for this program. Although this has not been a great financial year for a lot of people, imagine what you can still do for a family that has almost nothing, or lives on social security, or even worse. We have a great start with Corporate Sponsorships from Simi Valley Hospital, First Automotive Group, Kirby Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep and Wm. L. Morris Chevrolet, but we need your help.
There is nothing more powerful than the power to give. Please consider this request with your heart and if possible, do what you can. One meal, two meals, twenty meals, it really does not matter as long as you can help. Volunteers are also welcome. You will be benefitting people of all ages, old and young, unemployed, handicapped, sick, or just plain down on their luck. There are no administrative fees of any kind and 100% of your donations go to the expense of the food.
This year the need is greater than ever and we need your help. Please join us in this most worthy cause. We will not be cooking at all. We will simply be delivering the food to those in need. Just think of those happy, full families all because of you.
Thank you for considering this request. Please make your checks at $20.00 per meal payable to Troop Real Estate and mail them or drop them off at our office. Anything that you can do is more than appreciated.
