I was talking to some friends the other day about the news and what is going on in the world. Many people are moving out of assisted livings b/c they can't afford it anymore and back in with their kids. I started to wonder...what this must be like for both. How sad to have to move out of your home and into your children's homes whose own kids are probably off to college. This 'sandwich' generation who are ready to enjoy life with their spouse (or go out and enjoy it with friends) are now caring for their parents. The elders most likely enjoyed their independence and are not too happy about needing to be 'cared for'. what does this mean for real estate. Well, how is the house set up...does the parent have adequate space for themselves (like an aupair suite). Are they needing to move, maybe to a rancher? Is this a new niche market? People that needed to downsize may need to keep the size but have it all on one floor. Emotionally and Physically a lot of changes need to be made. This economy continues to ripple it's effects downward. Maybe the silver lining is that families will be closer and we will surround ourselves with those we love.

I recently came across a great site www.600block.com I have no affiliation with this site but was impressed with it and wanted to share it. Now that I have children I don't get out much and don't know all of the happening spots, but this website not only has listings of places to eat and where to go, but specials of the week and what are the hot spots for that week. I thought this site was great and recommend it to anyone that is going out and wants to know where to go. Let me know what you think.

Starting June 27th it is really going to happen, once a week trash collection. To some of you (in the county) already have this and it may not be that big of a deal for you, but for those of us in the city...I am going to miss the twice a week pick up. I love the fact that trash does not accumulate in the house or outside of the house (the city has some mice/rat issues) and it is such a great feeling to have the trash go out 2 times/week. The saving grace in all of this is that there will also be once a week recycling (which is great b/c that always accumulates) as we are very big into recycling. Even my toddler knows what is recyclable. Anyway for those interested check out www.cleanergreenerbaltimore.org for additional information. Have a great weekend and remember Earth day is April 22nd.
Take care,

When I think about the economy, the global warming, and threats from other countries I can see why people's moods are well...not very optomistic. I started to wonder about what improves moods. In the past there was shopping, massage, mani/pedi, sit outside with coffee, well basically taking time for yourself. Now that I have kids and I am supposed to be saving money what outlets are there. I have spoken with several friends who no longer have the option to shop and spend $$$ on themselves. So now we can enjoy our kids, when they are in pleasent moods or sleeping, watch tv (which feels too unproductive) or look for other fun things to do. Some of my friends have taken up crafts or organized their house, some have found new jobs. For me, well starting my new company brings me so much pleasure. www.relify.com keeps me busy and lifts my spirits when I think of watching something grow from an idea to an actual working thing. I get excited to think that our website will help people promote themselves while others find exactly what they are looking for. I hope that overall people have something that makes them happy too. It has been so beneficial for me!
