As an EcoBroker certified agent I provide my clients with a focus on their health, the health of our planet and full service assistance with meeting their goals when buying or selling.
With first-hand knowledge of what makes a home structurally sound, an eye for architectural design, experience with financing, and enthusiasm for working with other people, I offer a wide array of knowledge to my real estate clients. I have received my EcoBroker® certification, training which better assists clients concerned about their health, sustainable development, and the future of the planet. From windows to passive solar heating to energy savings, I have many resources to help buyers and sellers make better real estate decisions. The EcoBroker training enhances my understanding of energy and environmental issues, and makes me more equipped to convey these understandings to my clients.
Education and Background In 1991 I graduated from Northern Arizona University with a degree in Advertising and Marketing. Following this I continued to follow my career path in the hospitality industry as a Sales Manager for Bristol Hotels and Resorts and later as a General Manager for Intercontinental Hotels and Resorts. As General Manager I was responsible for two hotels, 15 managers, 200 employees, 500 guest rooms, 2 restaurants and 15,000 square feet of meeting space. While it was a challenging, exciting and successful career I found myself looking for a connection with people that only Real Estate could give me and made my move to Real Estate in 2005. When I say that I can put my years of sales and service experience to work for you, I mean it.On a personal note I became an EcoBroker in order to have the ability to place into my daily practice a lifestyle that I already live and love to share with others. It is one thing to say your are green and another thing to live green. I choose to live green.
As an EcoBroker I look forward to building a strong network of people who will be able to help the average home buyer or seller enhance their home with a green mindset. Check my Eco Links page regularly for more additions.
What I have done in my own home?
Gardening: I have been an Organic Gardener for over 15 years, growing all of my own vegetables, flowers and lawns organically and also xeriscaping every space I can. All of our garden is directly watered, sparingly, with a drip watering system.
Water Savings: In order to save water throughout my home I have xeriscaped my yard and placed all of my yard space on a drip system that is closely regulated by timers. We have installed low flow fixtures throughout our home and minimize our water use as much as possible. Recently we installed a super high efficiency Bosch dishwasher that uses about 4 gallons less water than you would if you were washing your dishes by hand. Our nxt project will be to install a high efficiency washer.
Natural Gas: In order to reduce our natural gas bills and usage we installed a 96% efficient furnace, an instantaneous Bosch AquaStar hot water heater, fully insulated the attic of our 100 year old home and replaced all of our basement windows with double-pane Low-e glass. The next project will be our main floor windows.
Electricity: Along with our high efficiency appliances, we do not have air conditioning. We use an evaporative cooler and have replaced all of our light bulbs with very low wattage fluorescent lighting or LED lighting whenever possible.
Automotive: We have traded out one car in our household in exchange for a Toyota Prius and gotten rid of our SUV in favor of a Toyota Camry. However, the Camry has proven to be a disappointment with gas mileage and will soon be traded for another Prius.

"Even though we were familiar with the Salt Lake City area we wanted assistance from a
real estate agent when buying our first home. Andrew provides more than just a list of houses for sale. He has experience assessing the various components of a house, a comprehensive understanding of the market, and the patience to work with clients until they find the perfect home."

"Dear Andrew:
I just wanted to write and express appreciation for the outstanding job you did on the sale of the Glendale home from the Cosby Estate. I was impressed not only with you patience in handling all of the documentation required with the various offers and Addenda, but also with the extra work you put in to make the property presentable for sale. I really felt you went the extra mile and provided outstanding service. I have mentioned your name to several people and told them about all the extra effort you went to with this property. If I can ever help with a recommendation, please let me know. Thank you again."
-Sincerely,
D.P., Attorney at Law-Seller-
"My wife and I met Andrew at an open house he was co-hosting. We were not yet
prepared to begin a serious search for our own next home, but we agreed that
we liked Andrew and should seriously consider selecting him as our agent
when our search began in earnest.
Once we were prepared actually to start looking for a house, we did contact
Andrew, and we have been happy about the decision ever since. He was
extremely good about listening to our criteria -- some of which were almost
mutually exclusive -- and he was considerate of our budget and did not waste
time showing us houses unless he thought they would sell for a price within
our range. As time went by, and we looked at houses with him, he learned our
tastes and preferences quickly, and became quite good at anticipating our
reactions to different qualities in houses.
Once we began placing offers on houses, we came to truly appreciate Andrew's
help. We felt that he was sincerely committed to representing us, as buyers,
and we believe he worked hard to protect our interests. We have no doubt he
would work just as honestly on behalf of a seller.
We have already recommended Andrew to others, and we will continue to do so.
The world of real estate can seem rather cynical and mercenary these days,
but we think that Andrew's approach is of the less common variety, and we
believe that he was concerned - first and foremost - with finding the house
that would be right for us."
-Sincerely,
Lawrence Averill and Amanda French - Buyers-
