Wordless Wednesday: Sometimes DIY Is a BAAAAAAAAAD Idea!
Sometimes, when you're looking to save some money, the Do-It-Yourself route is a great idea. Other times, though, you just gotta wonder if some homeowners have ever heard of an inspector!

So what's the first mistake you notice when looking at this
sterling example of preplanning? "Look, ma, soggy TP!" or
"I can multi-task in the mornings if I plug my electric razor
in the shower outlet!"?

This ad described the house as having a "whole-house attic
fan." Yeah, I guess you could call it that.

That I-beam wasn't really holding anything up anyway,
was it?

Tempe, AZ Takes the World Stage with Premiere of 'Wolverine' on April 27
Tempe X-Maniacs beat out thousands of cities and towns across the U.S. to win the world premiere event for X-Men Origins: Wolverine. The premiere will screen at the Harkins Cine Capri at Tempe Marketplace on Monday, April 27.
Via prerecorded video, Wolverine star, Hugh Jackman, made the announcement at a press conference yesterday at Tempe Marketplace. "X marks the spot for ... Tempe, Arizona," Jackman said "We're bringing the cast, a whole heap of red carpet and all the Hollywood touches." Along with Jackman, Wolverine costars Ryan Reynolds and Live Schreiber are expected to attend.
"People were so excited to get involved, and it was just amazing," Jackman said about the contest, held via the official Wolverine website. "I do love meeting the fans, particularly with these movies. I know how passionate they are, and I love to share it with them."
As late as the end of last week, Tempe and Davis, Calif., were in a dead heat for the honor. Fans were asked to enter a ZIP code after visiting the Wolverine site, with the city with the most votes winning the premiere. Tempe Mayor Hugh Hallman and Harkins Theatres owner and CEO, Dan Harkins, hosted a rally Wednesday. A voting party also was held at Tempe Marketplace on Friday night to ramp up the votes.
"We're ecstatic!" Harkins said via a prepared statement. "To host an event of this caliber is certainly something the city of Tempe and the entire Valley should be proud of. I want to thank each and every person who took the time to vote and coordinated voting efforts. Because of them, Hollywood is coming to Tempe. I'm always happy to have such incredible support from the community, but this is really something special."
The film opens nationwide May 1.

Phoenix First Home Buyer Market is Hot, Hot, Hot!
Now most folks would think this is a good thing. And then others, mainly the buyers trying to buy a home, are totally confused. They keep hearing it's a buyers' market here in Phoenix. Kids, it's a bit nuts out in the west right now.
Scenario 1: Good qualified VA first time buyer up to $100K. Locates an area that he likes and calls us to see a few homes. We call on well over 20 listings to make sure they're available and all but one have mulitiply offers. One home had over 9 offers. Crazy out west kids.
Scenario 2: Good qualified buyer up to $100K wants to live further out of town in a small town that was developed over the last 8 years (Maricopa). Same thing......multiple offers, nothing left to look at. The well is dry for the moment.
Scenario 3: Good qualified buyer up to $125 wants to live in town. Same thing, most are pending and/or have multiple offers over list price which knocks the buyer out of the running. Locusts have come and gone.
We have had success in closing many transactions but they're getting harder and harder to put together for our pool of buyers. Honestly if feels like 2005 all over again. Feeding Frenzy Mania.
Please let me know if this is happening in your area and are you successful in landing some of the deals?

What Do
Ashton Kutcher and Twitter Have to Do with a Phoenix Realtor?
Have you heard the buzz? Ashton Kutcher has beat CNN on hitting over a million followers on Twitter. Amazing.
I happened to see Ashton on Larry King Live briefly last night and on a tivo'd Oprah this evening. It's is quite interesting to me about this whole Twitter thing. I get the power of twitter...to a point. At the same time I have no idea of who most of my followers are NOR do I have the time to learn more about them. I am quite busy trying to learn as much as I can about Active Rain and enjoying that process.
After learning that Ashton was raising awareness on stamping out malaria that caused me to think differently about Twitter
What could I do to bring awareness to my cause? Off Campus Jams Off Campus Jams is a local non-profit agency that works with foster kids in group homes. These are the kids that are caught 'in the system' and most likely will always be there. This wonderful organization sponsors all kinds of events for the kids from cookie baking to fishing days to holiday parties and coming up soon..... a job fair for the kids that are 'aging out of the system" on May 2nd (please visit their web site above for how you can help out). Our company will be part of the job fair. We will be helping with teaching the kids how to interview, how to fill out applications, how to dress and whatever other skills they may need as they go out into the world on their own with no Mom's and Dad's to help them along the way.
There are so many causes that could use our assistance. I now 'get' how twitter can help!
Follow me on twitter and I'll follow your causes as well. TheAnnaBanana
