I just paid $3.79 a gallon for regular gas at Raceway and I'm feeling pretty sassy about it!
That's at least 20 cents more than I paid this time last week BUT.......
Hurricane Ike churning it's way through the Gulf of Mexico had gas prices jumping across the country, worries about gas shortages........EVERYBODY IS GOING CRAZY AT THE PUMPS!
By Friday night in Birmingham, the 10:00 news was filled with reports of rapidly increasing prices, long lines at the pumps and stations running out of gas........OH, GREAT!
What amazes me is the difference in prices I've seen. On the same day I saw regular for $3.87, and about three miles down the road it was $4.65! $4.65!!!!!!! That's a difference of 78 cents! And that was at a small station that has been recognized on occasion for having the lowest price!
So, I put off buying any until I just couldn't wait any longer. When I saw the sign for $3.79 I felt relieved, but then I noticed the plastic bags tied over the nozzles indicating no gas. My heart sank, but then I realized it was the expensive stuff they had sold out of and I happily filled my tank!
HAS ANYONE SEEN A BETTER PRICE?

One of my favorite places to shop and explore is White Flowers. From the moment you enter the shop you are surrounded by beauty. It is a quiet and peaceful retreat, and practically everything in the store is.....white!
The shop is owned by Diana Hansen, and carries T-shirts and other items with designs from her own garden, as well as many gift items in white by other artists. She has jewelry, candles, children's items, cards, all kinds of gorgeous things! I have some personal jewelry items that I cherish that I have found in this shop. I know you will love it like I do! There is nothing quite as special or pleasant in town....come see for yourself...I know you will love fall in love with it!
Stop by and visit Diana and her staff and enjoy a relaxing, spa-like shopping experience.......she has recently moved from Mt. Brook Village to her new location in downtown Homewood:
