As you can probably guess from the title of my blog I am not from these shores. I was born and raised on the North East Coast of England in the beautiful market town of Alnwick - voted the #1 market town to live in!
It boasts a wonderful castle, which is regularly used for the making of TV dramas and films - including the first two Harry Potter movies, the castle is also home to the Duke and Duchess of Northumberland. Surrounding Alnwick (pro Annick) is some of the most gorgeous scenery and great hills for hiking along with an abundance of golf courses and sandy beaches. In 1992 I moved with my husband to Deal, Kent in the South East of England, where we lived, again on the coastline, for 9 years. In 2001 we moved again along with our two daughters to the wonderful shoreline region of Connecticut. A year later along came child #3 - this time a boy. The experience I gained from having moved both locally and internationally have helped me to understand the stresses, strains and emotions involved when buying and selling a house and having to leave behind family and friends and then having to start all over again in a new town, making new friends, finding Doctors and Dentists etc
We have now been in the USA for 8 years living in the beautiful shoreline community of Old Lyme, where we have enjoyed great community spirit and made some wonderful friends. We have an active community of artists and some great restaurants to enjoy. We love the beach in the summer and are only a couple of hours drive away for some great skiing in the winter. Boston and New York are only 2 hours drive and our capital Hartford only 45 minutes.
