MassSave offers a FREE Home energy assessment which can help save you money by improving your home's energy performance. You may also be able to qualify for fuel assistance, reduced utility rates or other energy efficiency incentives.
I interviewed a homeowner, Christy, who recently took advantage of this free home energy assessment. "I would highly recommend everyone take advantage of this home energy assessment" said Christy "As a result of the assessment, I was able to get some free energy-saving items including a programmable thermostat, CFL light bulbs, water saving faucet attachment." Christy also pointed out to me that MassSave also does home sealing and provides some reimbursement for insulation.
Every home owner should take advantage of this program from MassSave!
Home buyers can take advantage of the Freddie Mac First Look Initiative which allows Home buyers to purchase Freddie Mac Real Estate Owned properties (REO) before investors as part of the HomeSteps program
Freddie Mac will offer homebuyers and select non-profits an exclusive opportunity to purchase HomeSteps homes prior to competition from investors through the Freddie Mac First Look Initiative. This on-going initiative offers owner occupant homebuyers, Neighborhood Stabilization Program (NSP) grantees and non-profits engaged in community stabilization efforts the ability to purchase HomeSteps homes during their initial 15 days of listing (30 days in Nevada), without competition from investors.
The purchaser does not need to be a first time homebuyer to be eligible provided, however, that they are buying the home as their primary or secondary residence. This program is only for REO properties owned by Freddie Mac. Contact me for more information

Looking for an apartment and think that Craigslist is the way to go to search for places? Be aware that of scams involving apartments.
The scam goes something like this. You see a post on Craigslist that has an apartment at an unusually low price. The owner/landlord in the ad states that they are out of town on business and will mail you the keys if you mail them a check. Once they get the check, they cash it and never send you the keys leaving you scammed! What makes this scam work is that they use actual apartments that are listed for rent. For instance, one of my rental listings was used in this scam. A scammer used my listing including description and photos and just reduced the price by half of what is was really listed for.
Renters beware! Here are some rules to live by when looking for an apartment on Craigslist
1. If it sounds too good to be true it usually is.
2. Don't ever rent an apartment without first seeing it
3. Don't ever send money to someone who claims to be away on business
4. For safer renting always use a professional real estate agent
