Famous Bistro offers both character & tastes to delight any foodie! Colby's on the corner of 3rd & Saint Ann has lots of charm & a great cobb salad. Full-service, relaxed dining. Colby's specializes in made-to-order original recipes. Located in the heart of Downtown at 202 West Third Street.
Briarpatch has the best steak in town. One of Owensboro's finest steakhouses since 1971, Briarpatch is open for lunch and dinner. Start your meal from the large soup and salad bar. Entrees run the gamut from burgers and sandwiches to fine steaks and seafood. Full bar service and fine wines are offered. Briarpatch also offers banquet facilities and private party rooms. Niko's offers genuine Italian cuisine with dishes from all regions in Italy. Of course there's pasta, but Niko's has veal, chicken, lamb, seafood, & more. A selection of Italian wines, beers and desserts top off a wonderful dining experience. Located in the Springs at 2200 East Parrish Ave.
Z's offers great atmosphere, with private rooms and boothe, plus family seating, plus a sports bar. Their steaks are seasoned to perfection, and the salads are generous. Located in the picturesque Cigar Factory Mall, 1100 Walnut Street.

Moonlite Bar-B-Q is literally world-reknownfor its incredible bar-b-q! A Kentucky Tradition since 1963, the restaurant is still locally owned & operated by the Bosley family. The buffet features a changing variety of delicious barbecue mutton, barbecue pork, barbecue ribs, barbecue chicken, smoked ham, and barbecue beef, all with the distinctive hickory flavor. Moonlite also offers country ham, home style vegetables, a fantastic salad bar and a dessert bar featuring homemade pies. My personal favorite: the banana pudding defies anything you'll ever taste or see!
Old Hickory Bar-B-Qoffers a delicious hickory-smoked bar-b-qued mutton, chicken, pork, pork ribs, beef and ham. Custom cooking and catering are also available. Located off 25th & Frederica, at 333 Washington Avenue
Ole South Barbeque offers all the traditional favorites, plus a great brunch buffet on Sunday. Be sure to try the burgoo! (A unique & hearty soup featuring mutton, & has a bar-b-q zing!) Located on 3523 Highway 54
Windy Hollow Restaurantis only open Sundays from 7a.m. to 1:30 p.m., the country brunch buffet features all your favorite fixin's including; country ham, fried chicken, red eye gravy & biscuits, french toast, fried potatoes, banana pudding and their famous homemade doughnuts. Come join the Owensboro community as they "Rock'n Around the Clock" during the Relay for life! This years' relay is May 30th, to take place at Daviess County High School.
To participate, go to www.events.cancer.org/rfldaviessky and register. You can select "join a team." or join as an individual. Registration needs to be completed by March 28 if you want a Relay t-shirt.

Every Friday night beginning Memorial Day through Labor Day, the Riverfront of Owensboro is abuzz with music and good times. Bands play from 6-10 pm on the RiverPark Center's Plaza; bluegrass bands play in the Woodward's Courtyard; and Gospel on the River performs in Cannon Hall.The 2008 schedule of musicians has yet to be announced. The International Bar-B-Q Festival: May 9-10, 2008
Best described as "two days of barbecue heaven", the International Bar-B-Q Festival fills the downtown riverfront with the aroma of hickory-smoked chicken, pork, beef and mutton. Live bands perform on three stages. The festival includes carnival rides, numerous vendor booths, pageants, a car show, backyard barbecue competitions, and so much more.
Every second weekend in May, Owensboro springs to life with the wonderful smells and sounds of the International Bar-B-Q Festival. It's an awesome weekend in our festival city: Smoke from hickory-stoked fires blends with the aromas of sizzling chicken, bubbling burgoo and roasting mutton to complete the festival atmosphere.
This year's International Bar-B-Q Festival promises to be a fun-filled and exciting time for regulars and first-timers alike. We've got plenty of cruise-in, carnival rides, pageants, 5K Run/Walk entertainment, and of course, lots of great food and drink, all to make a memorable Festival experience for you and your family!
