Music Fun for Children: Lollipop Concerts & Kindermusik

As a mom who's always on the go, I love to know about great family activities. And Owensboro offers some great music activities for pre-schoolers.

Lollipop Concerts: Friday, April 18, 2008, come bring your pre-school and daycare-aged children and introduce them to instruments of the orchestra. To be held at the Owensboro Museum of Science & History. Two sessions at 9:30 and 10:30 a.m. Hosted by the Owensboro Symphony Orchestra

7th Annual Bluegrass Returns to its Roots
This popular bluegrass festival features such groups as Daily & Vincent, SteelDrivers, Steep Canyon Rangers, The Grascals, JD Crowe & The New South, Mike Cleveland & The Flamekeeper Band, New Found Road, and Bawn in the Mash. The festival opens on Thursday night with the popular "Battle of the Bands" and also features 24-hour live jamming in the Executive Inn Tower.

Home & Garden Show This Weekend

Doors open at 10 AM this Saturday, March 7th & Sunday, March 8th, 2008.

The show brings the innovations of home design & trends right to you, the consumer. I find the inside displays of landscaping, spas, ponds, especially incredible (like how'd they do that?) Lots of information about home repair, building supplies, home building, windows, flooring- anything and everything for the Home. Electronics, financial services, utilities and community programs are among the Exhibitors.

If you're into home renovation like me, or just want to stay current with trends, this is the place to be.

Moving to Kentucky Checklist

This Moving Checklist, from our Tony Clark Realtors' website, offers practical tips on making your move simply and hassle-free.

Send change of address to:

Be sure to contact:

  • Bank: Transfer funds, arrange check-cashing in new city.
  • Insurance: Notify new location for coverage (Life, health, fire, auto, homeowners).
  • Automobile: Transfer car title registration; also driver's license; state windshield sticker; motor club membership.
  • Utilities: Gas, light, water, telephone, fuel, get refund of any deposit made; arrange for immediate service in new town; arrange final reading and change of name for billing.
  • Newspaper & paper boy.
  • School: Ask for copies or transfer of children's records.
  • Medical: Ask Doctor, Dentist, Pharmacist for referrals; transfer needed prescriptions, eye glasses, X-rays and records.
  • Organizations: Transfer memberships (Houses of worship, clubs, civic organizations); get letter of introduction.
  • Pets: Ask about regulations for licenses, vaccinations, tags.

Don't forget to:

  • Empty freezer; plan use of foods.
  • Defrost freezer-refrigerator. (Place charcoal to dispel odors.)
  • Have appliances serviced for moving.
  • Clean rugs or clothing, before moving; have them "moving-wrapped."
  • Check with your moving counselor: insurance coverage, packing and unpacking labor, arrival day, various shipping papers, method and time of expected payment.
  • Plan for special care needs of infants.
  • Plan garage sale.

On moving day:

  • Carry currency, jewelry, documents yourself; or use registered mail.
  • Plan for transporting pets.
  • Carry traveler's checks for quick available funds.
  • Tell close friends or relatives your route and schedule (including overnight stops).
  • Double check closets, drawers, shelves (to be sure they are empty).
