Celebrate the start of 2009 at the Fairmont Turnberry-style. This extravagant ball begins with a lavish sparkling wine reception featuring a lamb carving station and passed hors d'oeuvres including jumbo gulf shrimp, stone crab claws, sushi and risotto. Then enjoy a sit-down dinner with a main entrée of surf & turf, followed by a scrumptious chocolate dessert. The New Year's Eve party will be held in the resort's elegant Grand Ballroom complete with a 10-piece band, balloon drop and a champagne toast at midnight for a magical evening. $250 per guest, plus tax and gratuity, includes alcoholic beverages and party favors. BOURBON STEAK

The famed restaurant, Bourbon Steak in Aventura, holds its second annual New Year's Eve bash. First-seating begins at 6 p.m. and features three courses including a choice of burrata heirloom tomato salad, ahi tuna tartare, stuffed prawns with Dungeness crab, or butternut squash soup with ricotta gnocchi and black truffle to start; a main course selection between sautéed black bass with crispy pork belly, potato crusted pompano, prime beef rib eye or American Kobe rossini with a shallot potato cake and foie gras; and concludes with a choice between a chocolate panna cotta, traditional beignets or a selection of seasonal sorbets and ice cream. Second-seating starts at 9 p.m. and features a six-course menu showcasing an American caviar parfait to start, stuffed prawns with Dungeness crab, a butter-poached Maine lobster, sautéed black bass with crispy pork belly, American Kobe Rossini with foie gras and a chocolate panna cotta. Complimentary glass of champagne each, live band and party favors included. Three-course/first-seating is $95, Six-course/second-seating is $260; plus tax and gratuity. Complimentary valet parking.
