Touching History: The Untold Story of the Drama That Unfolded in the Skies Over America on 911 by Lynn Spencer
I was captivated by real life drama in this book and read non-stop. My step son is a pilot for Continental Airlines and on the morning of 911 Pete's plane had just taken off from Newark when the first tower was hit. As they flew passed the World Trade Center, Pete & his co-pilot saw the fire and thought it was just fire or a bomb. Within a short time they learned that the second tower had been hit and Continental Airlines quickly issued an order to all pilots to land the planes as quickly as possible. Our family was a-buzz during this period of time wandering where Pete was, but it was several hours before we knew he had landed safely.
This fall my husband & I toured field in Shanksville, PA (just north of PA turnpike, east of Pittsburgh) where Flight 93 went down on 911. One could feel the solemness and reverence of the make-shift memorial. There were so many mementos left at the site by family members and people like ourselves.
These two things made the book seemed more personal. I highly recommend this book to everyone who feels strongly about the resilience of our country. I felt tremendous pride in our country's response team.

Yes, football is his job, but helping kids is his TRUE PASSION.
For the last two summers, Bob has returned to Erie to host a football camp for Erie county high school players. Not only does he foot the bill, but he works with the players. He has returned several times in recent years to meet & talk to Erie schools, sports group and community groups.
Bob is truly a local boy who made it big in NFL, but has not forgotten what in important in life!
