The Montgomery County Maryland Branch of Habitat for Humanity has had a Memorandum signed by County Executive, Isiah Leggett to purchase foreclosed properties in the County. The plan is to purchase up to 10 foreclosure homes in the county and refurbish the homes for Habitat families.
Leggett has increased the Housing Initiative Fund from $20 million a few years ago to $53 million dollars in the current fiscal budget.
The county will budget up to $350,000 per property to be purchased and refurbished. The benefit is two fold; The first benefit is to clean up vacant properties in County neighborhoods. The second is to help families find affordable home ownership in Montgomery County Maryland.

Bethesda Maryland has an abundance of restaurants. There is a different flavor or taste for every palate. However, I am not going to discuss restaurants in this post, but I am going to discuss food. My friend, Jackie, and I are the resident foodies of our group of friends we love to entertain and cook for friends and family.
Jackie and I are pretty good cooks, but as with all things there is always room to improve. So Jackie and I take recreational cooking classes at L'Academie de Cuisine Culinary School in Bethesda. There is an accredited program for those who have the passion to cook, become professional chefs and make it their life's work. Then, there are the people like Jackie and myself who really have fun cooking and concocting new dishes for the fun of it.
L'Academie de Cuisine offers demonstration classes, if you would like to be an observer or you can take a participation class and get in right in on the act. The participation classes are what Jackie and I always sign up for. Last night we made Beef Wellington with herb and walnut pate', and Semolina Cake with Caramel Pears. The class was taught by Chef Dave Arnold from L'Academie de Cuisine.

That is Jackie, my friend, in class.
This is the season for family and friends. Please don't forget about the folks who are less fortunate in our community. This has been a difficult time for many. We need to pull together as a community to make sure no one is forgotten.

Happy Blessed Holidays to all.
Wishing everyone a Happy Halloween. The local weather in Gaithersburg is supposed to be good for trick or treaters.
I hope to see all the kids, big and small out celebrating. I will be taking pictures at my home in Darnestown. Most of the kids head up to the Kentlands to trick or treat.
I think some kids think it is too much work to come to Darnestown where all the houses are on 2 acre lots or more. The Kentlands have smaller lots and they get a bigger bang for the buck.
If you have photos that you would like to share, please email them to me and I will post them on my blog to share with everyone.
Stay safe, have fun, see you tomorrow. I will have my cameral waiting for you!!
You can email your photos to AudreyForshey@gmail.com
