Leander Texas Light Rail

The Leander Texas Commuter Rail station is having an Open House this Saturday, February 7th, 2009. By March 30th, 2009 the new light rail will be completely and finally up and running. It is an exciting time to live in Leander. I feel sure that some Central Austinites will discover how affordable Leander's housing options are compared to those near downtown Austin or UT (the University of Texas). The Mueller redevelopment area in Austin is a mixed use, green development. Leander's TOD has many similarities to Mueller. Leander's Transit Oriented Development will be mixed use- meaning shopping and housing together, walkable, pedestrian favoring transects with rail and bus service into Austin, Texas.

Capital Metro already has a Park and Ride bus service in place with Express bus service into Austin replete with Wi-Fi. Now MetroRail will add to the mass transit capabilities.

Finding Accessible Homes for Handicapped or Disabled Clients

I have represented buyers that are wheelchair bound who needed to buy a home with ADA type features. I found that accessible homes for handicapped or disabled individuals are hard to find. In my area's MLS system, the Austin Board of REALTORS MLS service, there is only one box to check: Does the home have disability features or not. Disability features in the world of the wheelchair bound is like greenwashing n the now trendy green world- just WHAT does it mean? Last time I went home shopping with disabled clients I found this one little box had VERY little meaning indeed. What is your experience in your area? Do you know of any national or international sites or organizations for marketing that work well? I love serving the needs of oftentimes underserved individuals like the handicapped. I would love to find ways to do this better.

EcooglerPLANT TREES WHEN YOU SEARCH!

If you use the internet, chances are you've used a search engine. The folks at Google have set up a new search engine to help reforest the Amazons and forests around the world. It is called Ecoogler (http://www.ecoogler.com/), and it works exactly the same as Google, but each time you use it, you're helping plant a tree. Brilliant!
