Hollywood Central?

Would you believe that Detroit is an up and coming destination for - Movie Production? That's right. The Detroit News on February 24th talked about how Big "D" is now ahead of cities such as Miami, Seattle, Philadelphia, Denver and San Diego to name a few. Last year Austin, Texas sat on the top of the list at #1 but fell to #10 which is only one spot ahead of Detroit at #11.

Of course, this sudden interest in Hollywood coming to the Motor City to a large degree is because of our state's recent "activism" in trying to attract them by tax incentives. The Detroit News article by Susan Whitall says it best that Michigan "...recently announced the nation's most aggressive incentive plan".

Happy Halloween from Grosse Pointe, Michigan

Welcome to my first blog on "Active Rain". Interestingly enough today is Halloween - a bit scary to start something new on Halloween, but, here goes. Unlike most Halloweens in the Metro Detroit area when the weather can often be cold, damp, dreary, snowy, rainy, drizzly, bone-chilling, etc. - today is starting out to be very nice. Right now it is about 50 degrees and at about 6pm the temp should be a relatively balmy 62 degrees! I remember some Halloweens when I think I was on the verge of getting frost bite. But it looks like that won't be a concern this year. Great news for Moms and Dads for their little ghosts and goblins. I have my pumpkin yet to be carved and my candy to be handed out hidden (from certain other members of my family who shall go unnamed). So - bring on the adorable costumed kids. I am ready and excited to see them.

On another note, I will be glad to have next Wednesday come and the election process to have been completed. I really prefer to see For Sale signs on lawns with a big SOLD banner adorning them than all of the political signs for candidates and referendums.
