A good business practice is to lead with revenue.
Those folks who don't "get" this concept are the ones who really fell flat when the market/economy shifted because their expenses were out of control and not in alignment with their Income.
When the environment went caustic, the expenses continued to pile up and the revenues dropped precipitously.
No fun whatsoever, right?
So in most people's minds "Lead with Revenue" is a "Red Light - Green Light" approach to deciding when to take on additional expense . . . because it's the expenses that'll hurt you more than the income flow (or lack thereof).
The reaction of some folks to the decrease in sales volume was to throw more money on the fire to try to buy more business revenue . . . Doesn't work that way . . . Those are the folks taking a bath now.
OK! Here's where I get weird . . . Is "Revenue" necessarily ONLY about MONEY?
Apply the "Lead with Revenue" principle to other areas of your life and you may find yourself on a smoother path to joy and happiness and achievement of your goals.

PAY ATTENTION!
All of these people have defined "revenue" for what it REALLY is.
You don't get to have REAL, sutainable $$$$$$ Revenue until you GET the revenue of living your life fully.
You must be personally fulfilled before you'll allow yourself to reach your goals.
The above are the things to LEAD with
The "Expense" that'll eat your life alive are quite simply put as being:
the distractors . . .
the negative self talk . . .
the people who tell you that your goals are too lofty . . .
That "YOU can't do THAT!"
The people and internal dialogs that convince you to settle for less than your REAL goal.
These are you expenses!
Until you get them under control, your goals will remain distant and unattainable.

Our children know this . . .
When my children want something, they'll talk about it incessantly.
They will ask for it 1000 times.
They will ask EVERYONE they see how they can get it.
They'll call Aunts, Uncles, Grandparents and ASK ASK ASK.
They'll find out how much it costs and calculate the tax and start SAVING MONEY.
If they can't find someone else to buy it for them, they'll become young business people.
Next thing ya know, they're approaching the neighbors and offering to do odd jobs.
The lemonade stand shows up on the curb every afternoon.
Come to think about it, when a child wants something . . . that inner "wantness" oozes from his very being and becomes HIM, and everyone in his world KNOWS what he wants until he GETS IT.
OK!
All you reserved adults . . . Now I'm talking to YOU.
When did you slip out of touch with your inner wantness?
Who was it we allowed to make us believe that it's not good to WANT?
WHY?
The simple truth is that we must CHOOSE to WANT . . . That's PASSION!
and when we really DO choose to want something, we'll find that childlike passion that'll propel us.
Everyone we know will know our goal, and they'll get out of our way as we relentlessly pursue it.
In fact, we'll become famous (albeit for a relatively short time) for our "fire in the belly" passionate play to get what we want.
Anything wrong with that?
So . . .
Let's boil this down to practicality.
What do you WANT?
You KNOW what you want . . . so why aren't you doing everything in your power to get it?
Remember that you can have reasons or results but not both.
Who or what is keeping you from getting it?
The correct answer is YOU are holding yourself back by throttling your own passion.
Be like the child who doesn't understand the word "NO!" no matter how emphatically it is spoken.
Begin with one "want" every day . . . and do whatever it takes to GET IT.
That want could be 3 business leads . . . or the accomplishment of a small goal or task.
Longer range, big, hairy goals are essential - they are the beacon towards which you travel.
But it's your remembrance of your inner wantness each and every day that'll REALLY get you there.
Otherwise, you're living a pipedream.
Find that fire in the belly take no prisoners commitment . . . The PASSION within you such that when you choose to want something, you DECLARE it and EVERYONE who comes anywhere near you knows what it is.
and guess what?
You'll get it!

If you were to read every book available about playing tennis, you would learn a lot of information . . .
Will that make you a "Pro Tennis player" or will you also need to actually PLAY some tennis?
Real Knowledge comes from real experience . . .
"School of hard knocks" learning builds authentic knowledge.
Until you do something yourself, you are taking someone else's word for what works.
So . . . Tell me about the validity of the folks who wrote the books?
What do they REALLY know about that topic as it relates to YOU?
NADA!
Straight out of college or real estate school what REALLY did you KNOW about your chosen profession?
Did you feel infinitely comfortable with your knowledge, or did you feel some tension?
When you learned to ride a bicycle, did you read all the books and watch video tutorials before giving it a try?
Do you think you KNOW the market you serve because you have studied all of the market data, or do you know your market because you have actually been working in the market talking to real, live people and driving the streets and viewing houses?
Real, authentic knowledge comes from PRACTICE.
True, professional performance comes from practice in a real world environment . . . on LIVE bodies.
So . . .
If you really do want to KNOW your market, get out there and immerse yourself in it PHYSICALLY.
Come to training also because that's where you'll find new and interesting ideas (information) . . .
and then head out to the field and convert that information into KNOWLEDGE through practice,

"Success Through Others" can be very elusive to folks who have a bad habit of surrounding themselves with the "wrong" people.
Change THAT habit and begin paying closer attention to who gets to hang with you, and I promise you'll reach your goals MUCH faster but only to the extent that those folks you are hanging with reach THEIR goals.
"Birds of a feather flock together"
If you're in business with people who you think are not pulling their share of load, what's that say about YOU?
Gary Keller spoke at Mega-camp about leverage through people and made it very clear that you will know very clearly when you have the "Right people on your bus"
Because . . .
- They are LEARNING based
- Their goals are In alignment with your goals
- They don't require any level of micro-management or "Job training"
- They are self-driven, motivated, goal oriented
- They are just as interested in improving themselves as they are in meeting the objectives of your business
- They are specialized and GOOD at their specialty
When you've got the right people on your team, the people you hire really end up managing YOU.
Success through others only works well when the "boss" wakes up and smells the coffee and understands that it's not until he/she is totally committed to seeing to it that everyone on the team reaches their PERSONAL goals . . . ie find the success to which they personally aspire . . . that the success of the team will manifest.
Individual success, triumph, victory is the fuel for an esprit de corps of a championship team.
Great Leaders know this . . . and surround themselves with the right people whom they groom and love and thereby create the achievement of their own unusually large goals.
If this thing of finding good people to hire is difficult for you to master, perhaps your perspective is upside down . . . If you have large goals, you don't have time to hire anything but "plug and play" talent . . .
Find people with DRIVE who are "coachable" . . . and who have goals . . . and hire them to do what they do best.
and remember . . .
Birds of a feather flock together
If you are less than satisfied with the performance of the people with whom you are in business, look first at YOURSELF and your own habits before you fire and rehire . . . because it's YOUR habits that created this mess . . . You've gotta get YOUR habits right first or you're just going to hire another "problem"

Wikipedia has this to say about Credibility
"Credibility refers to the objective and subjective components of the believability of a source or message.
Traditionally, credibility has two key components: trustworthiness and expertise . . ."
If you really DO want to find the highest level of success, you must have credibility with those you serve.
This means that you must be authentic and believable and have a measure of specialized expertise.
In essence, it boils down to doing what you say you will do WHEN you say you will do it.
It means taking responsibility for your own EXPERTISE . . . Your KNOWLEDGE of your product and the business environment and the impact that might have on your client base.
You don't improve your credibility by working harder and longer hours.
Credible people hang out with credible people.
Credible people seek other credible people as Mentors and coaches.
So how can you tell if someone else is credible?
How do you find these people who are credible?
The search begins inside YOU!
When your own credibility improves, other credible people will show up in your life.
Wiki also says: "Secondary components of credibility include source dynamism (charisma) and physical attractiveness."
I would add CONFIDENCE.
Those who act with confidence shine above others WRT to Charisma and Attractiveness . . . and this has NOTHING to do with physical features ("Good Looks") or exceptional brain power.
This has EVERYTHING to do with having a real PASSION for what you do and believe and a resolute commitment to take responsibility for your passion through your willingness to take appropriate ACTION.
Where to start?
I have a few ideas before I go to work on improving my own credibility.
- Have a GREAT system for managing your calendar
- ALWAYS be on-time - PUNCTUAL!
- If you're gonna be late, call the other folks and let them know as soon you know that you'll be late
- Don't practice grand-standing by giving advice on matters you do not have a specialized expertise
- KNOW EVERYTHING relating to your specialized niche . . . EVERYTHING!
- Keep your promises!
- Be nice!
- SMILE! (a LOT)
- Know when to say "NO!"
- Exude CONFIDENCE as you work with colleagues and clients
- Consider your physical appearance and be PROUD of how you look - If YOU think you're beautiful, you are!
- Take care of yourself - Spiritually, Mentally, Physically, Emotionally, Socially . . . EVERY DAY!
- Remember that others are watching you and making note of your credibility . . . and commenting on it :-)
Leaders can't be Leaders without Credibility . . .
