12th Annual Bounty of the Hudson July 26-27

The 12th annual Bounty of the Hudson will be held this year on July 26 and 27th.

This wine and food festival is sponsored by the 10 wineries of the Shawangunk Wine Trail and several othe area wineries. The Trail is 90 miles north of New York City, and located between the Shawangunk Mountains and the Hudson River. This year's fesitval will be held at Benmarl Winery in Marlboro NY.

The Ten Family owned wineries follow the tradition of wine making of the early French Huguenots.

Taste wines from all ten wineries on the Shawangunk Trail, local food, cooking workshops, fresh produce and live music. Tickets are $25 in advance and $35 at the door. Designated driver tickets are available. Bus transfers will be availble to and from Metro North in Poughkeepsie.

Hudson Valley Rail Trail- Bike, Walk, Run, Roller Blade Fun!

The Hudson Valley Rail Trail in Highland NY is tucked quietly away between Illinois Mountain and Black Creek, running from the hamlet of Highland west toward New Paltz.

If you are looking for a fun way to spend the afternoon pack up the bikes, roller blades or walking shoes and head out to the "rail trail".

The trail is 2.5 miles long and is part of the old New York, New Haven and Hartford Line.

The rail trail can be accessed at New Paltz Road, where the Rotary Club maintains a pavilion with picnic tables and a caboose, or at Tony Williams Park off Riverside Road. The trail is flat, paved and shaded.

While at the rail trail take time to enjoy the beauty of Black Creek which can be accessed from the trail.

Coming Event at the Hudson Valley Rail Trail:

Highand Rail Trail 8K Run/Walk- Saturday July 19,2008 The race starts at 9 am sharp and registration begins at 7:30 am at Tony Williams Park. The event is sponsored by the Hudson Valley Rail Trail Association and the Town of Llyod Police Benevolent Association. Prizes will be awarded by age groups. The first 100 to register will receive a special gift. Registration forms at Lloyd Town Hall, Lloyd Police Station, Rail Trail Pavilion. Registration is $20.00

Highland Annual Event-St Augustine's Bazaar

St Augustines Parish in Highland NY holds it's annual bazaar this weekend- Thursday Friday Saturday and Sunday at the parochial school grounds on Phillips Avenue.

If you are looking for a great time, great food, and great entertaiment it is the place to be!

The bazaar is kicked off with a Youth Parade at 6 pm on Thursday 19th. The parade winds its way throught the Town of Highland and back to the bazaar. Where the food will be ready to serve up.

There is a smorgasbord of scrumptious food including Sausage and Peppers, Lasagne, Baked Ziti, Father Larry's Secret Seafood Pasta, Pasta Fagiola, Chicken, Corn on the Cob, French Fries, Baked Potatoes, Hamburgers, Hot Dogs, Chili, Pizza, Clam Chowder, Clams on the Half Shell, Fried Dough, Italian Ice, Popcorn, Cotton Candy and lots more.

A highlight of the bazaar eah year is the authentic Italian Cafe- with Italian Pastries, Espresso, and Cappuccino.

The entertainment continues throughout- With the Radio Disney Performers, various bands, fireworks on Friday night and the super raffel on Sunday Night.

Highland Day- June 7, 2008

June 7 from 10-5; Highland New York celebrates Highland Day. This annual event is a street fair. The hamlet closes down Vineyard Avenue for the day.

There will be loads of activities for the kids- Don't forget to sign up for fall soccer.

The food is exceptional- Mark Elia has his BBQ, Rock N Rolls bakery and other local eateries serve there best.

There will be various vendors and merchants selling their wares.
