This seems to be a controversial subject and I was recently informed at an inspection that the listing agent shouldn't be present in part because any defects found by the home inspector should then be revealed on the seller disclosure should the deal fall through. Would love to hear you thoughts on this matter.
We always post our listings on Craigslist and the other day I started getting calls for the rental of one of my listings. I discovered that someone had taken all my listing info, including pictures and posted it for rent for $700 a month which is ridiculously low for that home. People started coming out of the woodwork for it! It posted an email address to reply to which was similar to mine but a yahoo account which I don't have. People were instructed to send the money and that the keys would be fed-exed to them. Some of the responses from the perpetrators were that they were missionary's who only wanted someone to take care for the property until they returned. Some responses were from So. Africa and some from Nigeria. I notified Craigslist but am not sure how many actually sent the $$. Here is the FTC phone # if this is happening to you. 877-382-4357. I guess it is RENTER BEWARE too. Let me know if this has happened to you.
