On September 26, 2010, the 2010 Northwest Ohio Race for the Cure is going to take place in downtown Toledo Ohio.
This is a National fundraising event for breast cancer education, providing mammograms, and assistance to individuals diagnosed with breast cancer. 75% of the runds raised will stay in our 24 county area. The other 25% goes to national grants. Some of those national grants are actually happening in Nowthwest Ohio.
I have supported this event for many years, and I am amazed at how this event becomes larger with each passing year. This year’s race is being chaired by my good friend Ann Albert. To quote Ann “The material that Komen has developed to help newly diagnosed individuals start down the path of recovery is AMAZING. I wish I had it.”
So come join the race. If you can’t attend the event please consider making a $10.00 donation. Click Here

Snooping out the Neighborhood with Stella allows you to know what is happening in a particular neighborhood. Stella and I are going to be checking out Stonybrook in Sylvania Ohio for you today. Stonybrook is located in Sylvania just off of Bancroft between Centennial and Crissey Road.

Stella by the very nature of her breed is perfect for Snooping out the Neighborhood. We first saw Stella at the Lucas County Dog Warden facility just over a year ago. We were told that Stella was a Cairn Terrier.
Over 200 years ago, on the ancient Isle of Skye and in the Scottish Highlands, the ancestors of today's Cairn Terrier earned their keep routing vermin from the rock piles (called cairns) commonly found on Scottish farmland. These early terriers were highly prized and bred for their working ability. Such characteristics as courage, tenacity and intelligence, housed in a sturdy body clad in a weather-proof coat, armed with big teeth in strong jaws.
So with a little background on Stellla, let’s nuzzle around and sink our teeth into what’s been going on in Stonybrook.

My good friends Carroll and John Nystrom will be hosting the Turn for Troops at their Woodcraft store located at 5311 Airport Highway in Toledo Ohio on July 2-4, 2010.
Turn for Troops allows you to make a handcrafted wooden pen that will be sent to our American servicemen and women that are currently serving their country overseas.
You may say how much does this cost? It's Free ! All it costs is a little bit of your time. All the supplies are donated. Of special importance is that Carroll and John ask for you to write a brief note to the serviceperson including the city where you live. Last year 400 pens were shipped overseas from Toledo Ohio. The goal for this year is 500.
Peter Parker, the national administrator of Turn for Troops believes each time one of our serviceperson’s uses a handmade pen to write a letter home from overseas it is a reaffirms our support of that man or woman overseas.
So this July 4th weekend stop by and see John and Carroll and tell them Bert sent you.
Hours for the event are July 2nd from 10am-6pm, July 3rd from 10am-5pm, and July 4th from 11am -4pm.

Homes are selling in Sylvania Ohio. Recently I had the opportunity to help a young couple move into the house of their dreams in Sylvania Ohio. We looked in Perrysburg Ohio, we looked in Rossford Ohio, but they bought in Sylvania. Currently there are 121 available houses in the price range of $70- $170,000. These homes range from 2-4 bedrooms and from 1-4 bathrooms.
Are you looking for a home and are getting tired of driving up and down the streets looking for homes for sale, looking at web sites only to find out the house has an accepted offer, or worse having an agent not listening to your needs.
Do you need a little help looking for your new home in Sylvania? If so, can you tell me a little bit about what you are looking for, maybe I can help you.
