Downtown Woodstock is going to the... cows?

MEDIA RELEASE - For Immediate Release August 29, 2008

Woodstock, ON - Mark your calendars because from September 11th until the 13th the Cows are coming home-Downtown Woodstock's first ever ‘Til the Cows Come Home" Festival.

Starting Thursday you'll notice Downtown looking a little different. You'll find cows suddenly loitering around downtown, and merchants matching suit with Holstein patterns and more. Businesses and organizations will also be hosting in-store demos, workshops, fashion shows, and more throughout the three days. Merchants will also be offering great deals to coincide with the event too, so you better bring your wallets (it's okay if they're leather, we won't tell the cows).

Thursday is also a great day to pick up your Cow Club card. With every purchase at a participating business you'll get a stamp on your card. Collect six stamps and throw your card into the draw for some fabulous prizes, including a huge bundle of BIA bucks.

Come Friday night you'll want to gather up your whole herd for Walk-in Mooovie Night in Museum Square. There will be a free screening of Enchanted at 8:00pm. You just gotta bring your own popcorn!

Saturday is our big day of the event. The West Coast Lumberjack Show will be wowing audiences with amazing demonstrations and competitions including axe throwing, pole climbing, springboard chop, chair carve and log rolling! It's going to be amazing.

And better stick around for the delicious beef BBQ by Bronson's Steak House and Pour Bar and The Oxford's Cattleman Association. Then grab some ice cream while Steve Frost and The Common Ground close out the event with an energetic performance of all your country favourites.

Come out for ‘Til the Cows Come Home, eat a little, shop a little, and have a cow-tonne of fun.

Woodstock EnviroStation Becomes "Greener"

E85, the "greenest" gasoline on the market is now available to the motoring public at the Woodstock UPI Energy EnviroStation in Woodstock, across from the Toyota plant on Hwy 2.

The fuel is a blend of up to 85% high octane, water-free, corn-based ethanol, produced in Ontario, and UPI's unleaded gasoline. E85 gets its name from the maximum 85% ethanol content, which is seasonally adjusted to ensure optimum ignition.

By using E85, environmental benefits can be achieved, such as the lowering of both vehicle carbon monoxide and net carbon dioxide emissions as well as producing fewer emissions of volatile organic compounds and particulate matter.

UPI's E85 gasoline is safe to use in the 600,000 Flex Fuel vehicles that are currently on Canadian roads. Canada's automakers offer consumers a selection of 38 models of Flex Fuel vehicles, identifiable by a yellow gas cap.

Not only are the fuels retailed at the Woodstock location, but the gas bar itself is also an environmentally friendlier design utilizing modern, cost-effective, above-ground storage and dispensing technology.

Thursday, May 29th marked the official launch of E85 at the Woodstock site which became one of only three gas bars in Canada offering the greener fuel. All three of the gas bars offering E85 in Canada are UPI gas bars. Robert P. Sicard, UPI's President and Chief Executive Officer says, "UPI continuously strives to bring innovative products to the market and to position itself as a leader in the advancement of renewable fuels."

UPI First launched E85 in 2007 at the Guelph Gas Bar and later that same year at the Park Avenue EnviroStation in Chatham.

TRANSFREIGHT'S WOODSTOCK CROSSDOCK BEGINS OPERATIONS

Woodstock, ON, May 22, 2008 - Transfreight's new 268,000 square foot logistics centre in Woodstock is now operational. Located adjacent to Toyota's Woodstock manufacturing plant (under construction) along highways 401 and 403, the centre provides crossdocking and several other capabilities such as yard management and control. Its on-the-floor scanning technology is fully integrated with both Toyota's ordering system and Transfreight's external logistics system, providing full visibility to shipments as they travel through the Crossdock. The centre features 64 dock doors (with expansion capability to 96) and 65 team members (slated to grow to 120+).

"Our new Toyota-dedicated facility is just one example of how Transfreight is continuing to grow and expand its capabilities to provide lean logistics services to top manufacturers in North America," said Transfreight Chief Operating Officer David Burns. "This strategic new centre enables us to continue building on our 20-year relationship with Toyota. It's another step in our ongoing initiatives to provide them with the highest quality third-party logistics services possible."

Transfreight broke ground for the Woodstock centre in July 2007. Construction took nine months, and the centre began operations during the week of March 25, working in conjunction with Transfreight's nearby Cambridge Logistics Centre (CLC). CLC team members were migrated to Woodstock to meet the increasing scheduled loads and unloads. To ensure a smooth transition for Toyota, team members from additional Transfreight facilities also assisted with the startup.
