For the past 2 years, I've owned and operated a universal design model home in Pikesville, MD. I used the model house for my consulting business allowing my clients to experience accessible and universal design housing first hand. The house has been very effective in allowing my clients to see accessible housing doesn't need to look "handicapped" or institutional.
I've recently expanded my business and now have another house under contract. The house is located in the same area of Pikesville and although its a rancher, its far from being accessible. This house will be used as a fully furnished, short term wheelchair accessible rental. I will close on the house in early December and would like to rehab the house in 60 days. I will start taking rental reservations starting February 1, 2009.
In order to test the rental market, I would like to rent my model home a few times over the next several months. I'm leery about renting the model house but I need to start generating interest and activity for my new house. The model house can be seen at http://www.accessiblehousingservices.com/accessiblerentals.html. My website is www.AccessibleHousingServices.com.
