Boyce Thompson Arboretum

We have a huge selection of plants at the sale this year, with well over 50% grown by Arboretum horticultural staff in our own propagation facilities. We also have a first-ever shipment of unique, "experimental" flowering shrubs and succulents from a California wholesale grower that are not part of the typical plant pallet of Arizona nurseries. These plants are sure to please those with an adventurous spirit to try something totally new.

Also this year:

  • Over 100 potted Boojum trees (Fouquieria columnaris) with trunks up to 5" tall.
  • Hard-to-find Joshua Trees (Yucca brevifolia) in 5 gallon containers
  • Turk's Cap (Malvaviscus arboreus) - excellent hummingbird plant
  • Chaco Feather Acacia (Acacia aroma) - beautiful, small 15 x 15 foot tree from Argentina
  • Blue Emu Bush (Eremophila hygrophana) - unique shrub from Australia with blue-purple flowers
  • Large, seed grown ocotillos (Fouquieria splendens) in one and five gallon containers
  • A tasty selection of herbs

Remember that fall season planting takes advantage of cooler daytime temperatures while the soil is still relatively warm. This encourages good root growth that will give your plants a leg-up in establishment so that they are ready to take maximum advantage of spring and summer growing conditions.
