On the right hand side of the shower, there is a white pvc pipe that runs into the attic and through the roof. This is a vent pipe for the plumbing system. Each fixture (sink, tub, shower) has to vented in order for the drains to properly flow.

Drywall is stocked and insulation is ready to be installed. R-13 in the walls and R-38 in the ceiling. Older homes have either no insulation or R-30 in the ceilings. New homes are more energy efficient! A non-vented fireplace also reduces air infiltration, thus increase energy savings. Electric and cable have been run above the fireplace for a future flat panel television.
