Castlestone Homes was the sole recipient of the award: "BEST OF THE BEST NEW HOME DESIGN: $250,000 - $500,000 Price Range," when the Building Industry Association (BIA) of Central Ohio held its 24th Annual Marketing and Merchandising Excellence (MAME) Awards this year.
"To say we are pleased to win this prestigious award is an understatement. The larger prize is that we have had the opportunity to offer this extraordinary new home design to Central Ohio consumers," said Bill Creekbaum, President of Castlestone Homes.
This year's winning design is the "Austin," which is a part of Castlestone Home's Southern Passage Collection. "Farmhouse style architecture is a unique American design. Centuries ago, carpenters from England came to this country with Georgian Colonial plan books. The American Colonial Farmhouse was our deviation from the traditional Georgian saltbox and is truly an American creation to be enjoyed," said Creekbaum. "It blends well with upscale neighborhoods; yet its natural setting is on rural acreage."
The Austin stays true to the farmhouse style on the outside, featuring a large wrap-around porch with a standing-seam metal roof. Entering the main floor, there is an extraordinary two-story great room with a "wall of windows," dormered ceiling, large country fireplace, and a loft overlook. The open kitchen offers a 13 ft. eating and entertainment island with apron sink, prep sink, and guest beverage area. The hidden pantry and built-in appliances are fit for a chef. The first floor owner's retreat offers sweeping views, double walk-in closets, and an owner's spa with large custom shower.
The soaking tub is flanked by round columns, double granite vanities, and an elegant chandelier. The second floor begins with a loft with breathtaking views, an outdoor terrace off the loft, two guest bedrooms with newly-designed "Super Jack and Jill" baths, plus a full guest suite. There are three separate outdoor living spaces. Walking into the lower level, you immediately enter into a private wine cellar with formal dining room and butler's pantry inside the wine cellar!
"When you're going to entertain family and friends, why not make dining an event," said Creekbaum.
Additional finished space includes a large recreation and theatre area with a powder room. An unfinished area is also available for a future bedroom, full bath, exercise room, and main theatre.
"This home is extremely functional, bright and airy. It ‘lives' very comfortably and is designed for the way we should be living," said Greg Miller of New Avenue Architects and Engineers, who collaborated on the design with Creekbaum. Miller and Creekbaum are currently working on the new "Bordeaux Collection," an offering of French Country designs due for release later this summer, with new surprises added to the interior features.
