Orlando is a great place to visit. I'm not sure if I'd want to live here, but that's because my ideal city is a little less... busy. Overall though, I really enjoy each time I get to venture down South to the home of Disney World and the many other attractions.
I haven't been able to really enjoy the attractions of Orlando yet, because each of my three trips here have been for business... but I'm sure that will change soon enough :) I want to see Mickey one of these days!
I have a hotel on International Drive, partly because of the close location to my conference, partly because of the great deal I got on http://www.travelocity.com , and partly because I really like the atmosphere of I-Drive.
If you love to people watch, and I certainly do, then this is a great place to watch a huge variety of human beings go about a frenzied time.
Every restraurant I could want is within a few blocks. There are nightclubs, family resorts, theme parks, and much more. If I feel the need to buy Harley Davidson apparell or cameras, there seems to be a store on every corner for each!
Ahh, Orlando. I will miss you when I leave, and I'll look forward to my next conference in this great city!
On Thursday I packed a few things, filled up the cooler with Dr. Pepper and plenty of ice, and hopped in my truck for an eight and a half hour fun-filled drive to Florida! I was off for my seventh Craig Proctor Superconference, this time in Orlando, FL.
Though it was going to be a bit of a drive, I didn't mind much. I told myself that I drove that distance dozens of times when I was in college. The drive from Lindsborg KS was about eight hours to Thornton, CO and the drive from Manhattan, KS was only about half an hour longer. What I seemed to have forgotten is that I was over a decade younger...
The drive went well. I listened to a book on tape (had to bring a tape player along - none in the truck). I watched the scenery change from South Carolina to Georgia to Florida.
When I hit Jacksonville, I had to turn off the book on tape. It was impossible to hear it over the thunderstorm I had driven into. After an agonizing half hour of driving slowly, some due to the rain, but most due to the people driving slowly around me through the rain, I got back into beautifully clear weather.
When I hit Orlando, it was just about seven and a half hours after I had started. Not bad for a trip that was supposed to take an hour longer. I won't admit to my average speed...
Doves fly towards the blue sky, church bells toll, and people all around rejoice - it is the time for our new office to finally open up!
About two weeks ago, we moved into our new location in Greenville, SC. It has about 2000 more square feet than our old location had, and is brand new! It's always a nice feeling when you aren't coming in after some other tenants.
If you're near I-385 and Butler Road in Greenville, come on by and visit. The coffee pot's on, and if we're lucky, one of our vendors dropped off donuts!
You can even enjoy that new paint smell :)

I had some clients who were very interested in getting their property sold, but things weren't moving fast enough. They had little to no equity in it, as they'd purchased it just a year before, so we couldn't do much with the price. I asked them if they'd like me to market it as a rental and for lease/purchase, and they agreed.
A few days after we started the marketing, I got a call from an agent who had a couple and three kids who had lost their house in a fire. The agent represented the insurance company, and was trying to find them a rental.
It was going to be short term, so instead of our asking price of $1200 a month, the insurance company was willing to pay $1400 a month. Then, I remembered that my clients weren't tied to the furniture - they planned on selling everything they owned when their house sold, as they were going into the peace corps. I asked the agent to check on how much the insurance company had authorized to rent furniture, and found it was $700 a month.
We inked a deal for $2100 a month, house, furniture, and all! My clients were ecstatic, the other family now has a house (my folks agreed to move out in 72 hours from when this all began!), and the agents made a little money. It can't get better than a win-win-win all around!
And what happens when the current tenants move out? The other agent has already said he has a LOT of insurance companies looking for similar situations. This just might work out great!
June will be busting out all over as "Carousel" opens at the Greenville Little Theatre in Greenville, SC! This is going to be a great show, with several talented actors, a beautifully decorated sets, and amazing costumes. I am a little biased on the actor part, however, because one of them is me!
I will be playing the part of Mr. Enoch Snow, simple herring boat fisherman who has BIG dreams! Out of my five shows I've now done at the Greenville Little Theatre, this is by far the biggest role I've had, and it's also my most exciting. I have solo numbers in three songs, and get to sing in some group numbers as well (such as "A Real Nice Clambake").
Shows at the Greenville Little Theatre are put on with a tremendous amount of detail and professionalism, which makes the fact that all the actors are volunteers even more amazing!
Mark the month of June on your calendar and make plans to attend Carousel!
