REALTORS from accross the Omaha area are coming together to collect winter clothing for those in need for the next two weekends!

Look for these signs to identify official Open House collection sites in neighborhoods all around the area.

If there isn't one in your neighborhood, please take your donations to ANY local real estate office. Any company, any office.

Last year, we were able to collect over 2000 articles of clothing for the needy and hope to substantially increase that number this year.

Clothing will be donated to five local recipients:

• Open Door Mission
• Project Wee Care
• Stephen Center
• Omaha Schools Foundation
• Sarpy County Community Services

This coming Sunday in Omaha, NE and surrounding areas there will be hundreds of official collection sites for the 2010 Omaha Area Board of REALTORS 'Coats 4 Kids' Winter clothing drive.

That's because every open house in the area will be an official collection site! Just look for these signs in a neighborhood near you!

If you miss out on Sunday's citywide collection. You can drop off any coats and winter clothing, both for kids and adults, to any local real estate office. All of the companies in the Omaha area are participating.

Our goal is to collect 2400 coats by Wednesday, November 10th! The clothing will be split among three local charities: the Open Door Mission/Lydia House; the YWCA, and the Sarpy County Community Services as well.

Clean out your closets and let's put those 'gently used' clothes to a good use!

Omaha! America's Most Recession Proof City!

CNNMoney.com has just posted their 2010 list of the 20 most recession proof cities and Omaha came out on top!

Here is an excerpt from the article:

"When it comes to recession-proof cities,"the Big O" is still on top.

Of the strongest-performing cities during the recession, Omaha, Neb. had the lowest unemployment rate -- a mere 5.5% in June, compared to a whopping 9.5% for the country overall -- and the lowest change in unemployment over the last three years.

So it's no surprise that Warren Buffett's hometown made the top 20 list of the strongest-performing metro areas according to MetroMonitor, a quarterly report released Wednesday by Brookings Institute's Metropolitan Policy Program..."
