Elementary and intermediate schools in Marlboro School District are starting 15 minutes later this year. Classes at Marlboro, Milton and Middlehope Elementary Schools and Marlboro Intermediate School will begin at 8:45.
School administrators decided to make the change to give school buses more time to get kids to school on time. Last year buses were often late, because of all the rush hour traffic on Route 9W during the morning rush hour. School administrators had the choice of adding more buses or changing the start time. They decided it made more sense to start classes 15 minutes later.
The School Breakfast Program will still be available for students when they arrive at school. The first day of school in Marlboro is September 3.

We work with many home buyers who are moving out of New York City and into the slower paced lifestyle of Ulster County. One of the biggest questions we're asked- "How will I get back to the city?" We always tell people to take the train. However, parking at the Poughkeepsie Train Station is almost always a problem.
But now, that's about the change. It's about to even easier for Ulster County residents to get to New York City. Metro-North Railroad will soon start offering a shuttle bus from 3 locations in Ulster County to the Poughkeepsie train station.
The shuttles will run from Highland, New Paltz and Rosendale. A one-way ticket will cost $1.25 from Highland, $1.75 from New Paltz and $2.00 from Rosendale and parking will be free. A monthly shuttle pass will be $40. Considering the price of gas, tolls and a parking permit- MetroNorth says the shuttles will actually save commuters money.
The new service is expected to start in mid-September. Metro-North is hoping the shuttle service will help ease parking congestion at the station.
About 1,800 people use the train station during the week and on Saturdays and another 1,600 use it on Sundays.

If you're looking for something to do with the kids Friday night, come out the annual Children's Day Parade and festival in Kingston.
This is the 40th anniversary of the event. Each year there has been a specific theme for the parade, but this year, in honor of the anniversary, participants can pick any one of the 39 themes highlighted in the past.
