Well, this is my first adventure into the world that is blogging. Although the Bee is still building it's hive we are jumping right in to this brave new world blogging world. (you will notice throughout this (and every) blog that I have a dry sense of humor. I figured I would start by giving everyone an introduction to Honey Bee Realty.
I started Honey Bee Realty earlier this year with an idea and the beginnings of a plan. I have been a real estate agent here in Western Massachusetts for over half a decade and have noticed a few things about the industry.
I have noticed that this industry tends to be a close knit community as evidenced by the this website among other things. This has its pros and cons. On the plus side they are a very welcoming group. Rookies are usually welcomed into an agency and often are paired with a mentor for guidence. This allows new agents the ability to get real world experience (and some cash) right from the get go. The industry also prominatly promotes and enforces a strict code of ethics, which if find very comendable and extreamly important. They also keep each other in check. Since most deals are made involving two different agencies we all keep an eye on each other. All of these are high points for the Real Estate agency.
Unfortunatly this tight knit community becomes a double edged sword. There is a tendancy to have a herd (or hive) mentality. With many of the larger organizations creating policies that become common practices for all agencies. What may be a good practice for one hive may not be for another. I find it tends to stifle many a bee's creativity. The problem is that if that bee switches hives they may not get the exposure they rely on.
Thats why I created Honey Bee Realty. I am trying to establish a hive that will allow and reward creativity that produces "sweet" results for our clients. This is one of the greatest industries in the world and I am proud to be a part of it. Honey Bee Realty is here to meet the specialized needs of every one of our clients and agents in a straightforward and creative way.
