Holy Christmas Batman...These folks in Ellicott City, Maryland off Boones Lane in Ellicott City, Maryland have really caught the Christmas spirit! Tonight we had a wonderful Christmas dinner with my sister in her beautiful home on Boca Raton Drive. As we were leaving we caught sight of lots of light and drove down to investigate.

A still picture doesn't do this home justice! What you can't see in this picture is the animation. In the background there is a Santa throwing a basketball into a hoop over and over. If you can see the igloo in the front right corner, there is a penguin that dives from the top of the igloo and splashes into the water. There's a snowman that get's built from the ground up. The colored lights around the roof change colors. I bet if we were in front of this house for more than a few minutes, we would have caught lots more! These folks must take quite a bit of time to get their home completely into the spirit! I think my favorite is the Santa and Reindeer on the roof.

I wonder how long it will stay up after Christmas?!

There are so many great places to see Christmas lights in and around Catonsville, Maryland.

There are some places that are so over the top they become annual traditions just for the spectacle. Baltimore's own Miracle on 34th Street in Hampden, Maryland is like that for our family. We love to just drive around town to see how the locals do it...if you ask me, they do it just right!

No matter where you go, there are folks spreading the Christmas cheer. Some, like the one's pictured here are simple and elegant. Many are over the top with every color, every blow-up, every cut out, everything they can fit on their lawns. There are no shortage of homes to check out. I just love driving around my town this time of year!

Most of the light festivals are available through January 1st. I bet some of the neighbors will still have the lights up into March or April! Ahhh, no matter, it's CHRISTMAS!!
