Today in Boone, North Carolina it's snowing cats and dogs! This past weekend it was sunny and 70 degrees and all the flowers starting to bloom. But that's what I love about the high country. To me every day here is beautiful. It is a sensory riot! The fragrance of the forest, the touch of a light mountain breeze on your cheek, the beauty of white wisps of clouds grazing green treetops beneath a blue Carolina sky. The air is almost so sweet you can taste it as it whispers through the towering oaks and poplars above me. Almost every night of the year I walk out onto my deck under these trees at night to witness the majesty of of the mountain night sky. I could talk about the beauty of the high country forever. Having grown up on concrete in Chicago under an orange sky I have very low resistance to such sublime natural beauty. That's my thought on the high country for the day.

I just love the weather in the mountains of western North Carolina. I guess you have to like weather, the way the air acts when it gets to 3300' elevation in the southeast. We are said to be a "temperate rain forest" with 55" of rain a year. I happen to like rain. We've had about a week of it but I find it invigorating. And everything is so green. When the sun shines in this luxuriant forest it's a panoply of color and scents. Come to Boone and see for yourself.

One of the reasons I live where I do in the beautiful mountains of Western NC is their sublime beauty and nothing reveals that so much as our flowers in Spring. Right after the daffodils come my favorite, the Forsythia. I took this yesterday while out comping a listing and thought I needed to share with the world the exquisite nature of nature in beautiful Boone, North Carolina!

I just love the beauty of these beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains. Having lived here fourteen years I have driven or walked most of these counties in northwestern NC. The sublime beauty of the high country is almost impossible to clearly convey. There are moments you experience on top of ridge where you're suddenly struck by how magnificent is this place on Earth! It can be a moment of weather with wispy clouds wending their way as the wind whispers in the river valley. It stops me in my tracks this exquisite beauty. It can be something as simple as awakening to the fresh forest fragrance or as humbling as a mountaintop moment under the garland of diamonds we have for a night sky.
