Douglas County: Hess Road Update

04-02-10
Bonnie Cox

What is going on with Hess Road?

There have been rumblings throughout Parker and Douglas County for years about the fate of Hess Road. It is a work in progress, and it will eventually open up a major traffic artery to Parker and Castle Rock residents once it is finished. Parker residents, especially those in Stroh Ranch, Canterberry Crossing, and Horse Creek, were thrilled with the recent completion of a large stretch of Hess Road in Parker.

There hasn’t been much noticeable activity since then, so now what? Douglas County recently began construction on the east phase of Hess Road to I-25. As a result, it will close Hess Road west of Chambers Road to the Great Plains Way intersection in Parker until mid-June. Douglas County is also moving forward with the west segment of Hess Road to I-25. According to the Town of Parker’s website, construction of this segment is slated to begin this spring, and Hess Road is anticipated to be open to I-25 for use in late 2011.

For information on how the construction of Hess Road will affect your home value, or regarding other Douglas County Works’ projects, please contact TeamCox Realtors – Denver real estate specialists – at 303-400-6060.
