My blogs over the last few months have been stressing that interest rates are bound to go up because of Fed borrowing and competing for funds in the market place and the need to act quickly to put yourself in the best home buying situation. Remember the law of supply and demand.
As you can see since January the number of days to sell has been going down in a linear manner and average prices have been going up.
Add the factor that interest rates going up combined with a $8,000 tax rebate and you begin to see that you may only have a small window of opportunity left to purchase your home at discount prices, lower interest rates and using a Fed tax rebate.

This is an area of the country where we don't see the craziness others sometimes see in other areas of the country, but today was a bit different at the airport.
A man got taken into custody fro being heard talking on his cell phone about an impending air crash anf threatening to take everyone with him.
It seems he is now over being evaluated over at the hospital with my good friend. Are people stranger these days or is it just me that I think so?
Home sales are up nationally. We saw a rise in sales and prices in March here. We still have a large backlog of homes but we seem to be going in the right direction which is up. The Works Progress Administration (renamed in 1939 to the Work Projects Administration; WPA) was the largest New Deal agency, employing millions of people and affecting almost every locality in the United States, especially rural and western mountain populations .
Does this sound familiar? Some of the largest public works projects were funded by WPA. Many genealogy records were saved and categorized by WPA. What was funded by WPA in your area? I think you might be surprised!
Dock Street Theatre in Charleston, the towering Brightman Institute of Mental Health off the rocky Northern California coast, and the Timberline Lodge on Oregon's Mt. Hood; more than $1 billion on publicly owned or operated utilities; and another $1 billion on welfare projects, including sewing projects for women, the distribution of surplus commodities and school lunch projects and the Merritt Parkway in Connecticut were all funded by WPA.
In our area, the Blue Ridge Parkway and Peaks of Otter Lodge and lake were built with WPA money.
Last week on my birthday I took a hike to the Peaks of Otter Lodge and took some pictures. This area is great for weddings, family reunions - with a restaurant and accommodations all in a casual setting. The Lynchburg, Bedford, Forest and Goode areaa are filled with scenic picture postcard views, nice people, reasonable home prices and low taxes. Not too large, nor too small.
